Hello!

The Woolworths Discovery Garden Collection Version 2 has started and my kids can’t wait to get their hands dirty and start planting our mini veggie and flower garden.

Ah, who am I kidding? The kids don’t really care much and last time lost interest after our seedlings all got upturned and destroyed in the wind. But I’m excited to start collecting and can’t wait to bring some colour to our dusty yard.

I’m all about maximising each buck and I’m happy to share that the popular Woolies collectable hack that we shared during the Disney+ Ooshies collection works with the Discovery Garden too.

It All Starts With $30

The Discovery Garden Hack all starts with a minimum transaction spend in-store or online of $30 and for that shop, you are eligible to earn one Discovery Garden seedling set, which comes with a cardboard info sleeve and label; a seed mat made from dissolvable paper; a wood pulp pot, the actual seeds and the ‘soil’ pellet made from coconut husk.

How The Discovery Garden Hack Works

BUT throw in a couple of the participating brands and you can earn so much more for the minimum spend. I put together an online shop that totalled $30.15 and I earned 14 (!!!) seedling kits. That’s a massive 13 bonus seeding kits. It all makes my green fingers tingle with excitement!

Big List Of Brands

This time around, there is a substantial list of participating brands to pick from so you can be strategic and shop around and find the cheapest combination of products to score your bonus seeds. The process is even easier online and you can sort each brand from lowest price and pick the most economical items that will maximise your Discovery Garden haul.

The Catch

So what’s the catch? Well, there isn’t one really. But you can only get up to THREE bonus seedling kits per participating brand per transaction. But because there are so many participating brands to choose from, this is really not a problem.

There is a total of 24 Participating Brands plus 34 specified Macro products so you can really score big. You may have to pick up a handful of products that you may not really need but that’s a small sacrifice to add some greenery to your life.

What I Bought To Get 14 Seedling Kits

I have included details of all the items that I added to my cart to make up the $30 minimum spend. As you will notice I took advantage of all the specials on offer at the time but those will obviously change over the weeks. I’m pretty sure that with some strategic playing around, you could earn even more than 14 kits for a $30 spend.

  • I really wish they would bring this back! It would have been excellent through out COVID times when we all had nothing to do. I’m really not a fan of the plastic collectables the super markets pump out. They are wasteful and forgettable pieces that have no second life to them

  • Didnt take part in this. Im hopeless with trying to keep plants alive and would just find it stressful

  • Was certainly one of the better ideas from the supermarkets, but I didn’t do anything special to get them.. Recently I found a few packs hidden away and after more than a year they are still viable, sprouted and looked really promising. Unfortunately didn’t survive the transplant outside. But was inspiring to see them germinate.

  • I just get what is owed based on my spend

  • So many of these around to score extra collectables. I know ppl who buy products they won’t use, don’t need just to score extras. Is it really worth it??

  • We love this promo – such a useful freebie and the kids love it.

  • I’ve started my kit and in my first shop scored 16 seedlings, not a single double. My second shop completed the whole set so my garden is complete. I love this promo

  • Good to know

  • I was wondering why Hubby got so many on the last shop! He must have got bonus ones! Good to know this though as my girls are keen on getting them all!

  • Thanks for that. You’re going to be busy with your new kits.
    Enjoy your bounty.

  • Nice research and a big help always feel ripped of with these promotions collect points and items are gone

  • I don’t go out of my way for any of the collections as I can only shop once a month. My usual shop is anywhere from $400 to $700 each time. Only thing is that they don’t have all of the pots available at the one time. This means I usually get at least 6 of one variety at a time. I’ll just be grateful for whatever I get. Any excess pots I get I just give away to family and friends.

  • I’m not doing this one, but WOW! Look at the investment of people.

  • I got 11 yesterday. My kids love to watch soil expand when adding the water. We planted all of them yesterday.

  • This is so good to know. I wasn’t aware we could collect extra seedlings by buying certain brands.

    Reply

  • They didn’t work for us last time so not sure whether we’ll collect them again

    Reply

  • Bonus! I just did an online shop this morning and looking at the list of brands I realised I have bought a few. I just hope they have them in stock….was a bit disappointed with the glass container promotion as they ran out of stock so quickly

    Reply

  • I brought my groceries on Thursday and was entitled to 3 but they didnt have any, so dont know if I can be bothered trying to get them

    Reply

  • Good on you for sharing the bonus brands tip. Not planning to purchase or participate this time but might be good knowledge for others.

    Reply

  • The thing to remember is it’s not worth it if you buy more than you normally would or if you buy things that you don’t need or don’t usually use. I got 8 in my last shop but I only purchased items that I know that I will use.
