In one of the most controversial combinations to ever hit Aussie tastebuds, Doritos Coriander flavoured chips are about to divide the nation.

Launched today, Doritos has combined its famous corn chips with one of the most divisive herbs – coriander. And even for those who love the polarising ingredient, it could still prove a step too far.

Doritos Coriander

“We’re excited to see the reaction of chip-lovers from across the country as they try our super-limited-edition Doritos Coriander,” Vandita Pandey, Chief Marketing Officer ANZ, PepsiCo said.

“We know some Doritos fans are going to love it, but we also know some will hate it – our legendary triangular corn chip is ready to put tastebuds to the test.

“With the taste of coriander being one of Australia’s most divisive flavours we want to boldly launch the flavour in chip form and see if coriander really does taste like soap.”

But here’s the kicker – the limited-edition flavour isn’t available to purchase – there are a number of packs exclusively available via a giveaway on the Doritos Instagram page.

What do you think of this new flavour? Do you love or hate coriander.

  • Now this is just gross. I hate coriander. Why do we have to mess with our favourite snacks – chips and corn chips – with all sorts of ridiculous flavours.

  • I love coriander to make biriyani and other Indian dishes, but not sure when it comes to chips. have to try first to tell mmm

  • Ew no! Coriander is horrible unless dried and in small amounts. I can’t imagine something actually flavoured this way!

  • I love it, but I know many who don’t. These chips will be quite divisive, methinks.

  • I love coriander. I’m guessing the polarising tastes are something to do with being able to detect the ‘soapy’ flavour or not. Probably the same as brussel sprouts. Either you are born with it or not.

  • I’d definitely try it. I know a lot of people who hate coriander so it’ll be a no for them.

  • I’m game. Will probably have them to myself though as no-one else likes the flavour at ours.

  • Coriander is such a great herb which I use in alot omy dishes regularly. Started growing in my vegetable garden. Cannot do without.

  • I’m envious of people who love coriander, I absolutely cannot stand the stuff! I’ll be tempted to sneak a chip when someone else buys a pack, just out of curiosity and a little self suffering.

  • I’m sure my son would love to try, he’s a big Doritos lover :)

    • I hope the company releases the coriander flavour chips more widely. Would be good for consumers to vote with their taste buds!

  • I love coriander and these chips would be great to try with a selection of dips. Pity the new range is only available via a giveaway.
