39+5 and fed up, help! - Mouths of Mums

Hello!

Rant incoming… I’m a FTM and looking for some advice to help get through the final days of pregnancy. I’ve already started mat leave and am so bored, struggle to do anything in the day because I’m too tired, don’t want to be far from home and the weather is so shit atm and I dread going to sleep at night because my hips hurt so bad, I’ve got PGP and I constantly have to get up to go pee. It’s also driving me mad not knowing whether I’m in latent phase of labour or not because I feel like I have all the symptoms but nothing is progressing. Any mums out there that can help advise how to get through these final days and the impatience of it all? I’ve had a relatively “easy” pregnancy but feel like this final stretch is setting me up to be miserable for when baby actually starts to come. Thank you for listening.

  • Please excuse my ignorance but what does FTM stand for? The only meaning I can find is Female to Male but then the whole pregnancy thing doesnt seem to fit so im rather confused.

Hopefully by now you have had bub and all is well.
Congrats and I hope all goes well for you.

  • Usually in the last days you use the time to ‘nest’. Make sure the nursery is set up just so, make sure your hospital bag is packed, etc. If you have all of that under control, you could cook meals to freeze for after the baby as you’re not going to feel like cooking then! Going for short walks is also good to help progress labour.

  • You have so little time to go! This is your last you time – make the most of it!
Do relaxing things like go for swims, gentle walks, wash baby clothes, get everything organised. Do some meal prep if you need to stock up. Baby will be here soon and you’ll be beyond exhausted. Relax while you can!

  • I was just thinking that you might find a lot of relief of your Pelvic Girdle Pain symptoms by going daily to the pool. Also a supportive hip belt could help. And when you are super bored it might be an idea to get some groceries in and start meal prepping to stash them in your freezer

  • This is definitely the part that I found most taxing on my body and spirit. You’re just over it and keen to feel yourself again. I had a yoga ball to bounce on to try and speed things up a little. If you’re able to, nap now while you can. Soon that will be a distant memory.

  • I wonder if some sessions with a Physio therapist to treat your pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain. It might be worth-it to have a chat with your GP and see if you can get a referral. In regards to boredom I always enjoyed a good book and when I was pregnant I really loved knitting and crocheting stuff for the baby
