  • Love my local IGA

IGA is such a hidden gem. So close to home, easy to navigate, and stocks our favourite brands. The stores are always neat and tidy and the produce is fresh. The catalogue deals and 3 day specials mean I can save a few dollars every time I shop. Cash Back on the IGA Rewards app is a great incentive too!

  • Love shopping for products I can’t find anywhere else

I love shopping at my local IGA, I go there to get products that I can’t get any where else and for the wonderful customer service. They have a fantastic selection of every day items available, their deli and produce departments are always full with fresh stock and best of all, they still have their in-store butchers, so I can buy good quality meat. And their weekly specials are very good, too.

  • Mid week top up

Our IGA Pit Stop Challenge was an easy breeze being able to grab a mid-week top up (valued at $60) to keep my active kids happy and healthy. Life can be hectic especially when school term resumes and after school activities take over. Being able to find our essential items at a value price and in conveniently located IGA stores is a huge help. Thanks IGA & Mouths of Mums for the Gift Card and fun challenge!

  • A lovely shopping experience!

I find shopping at IGA super convenient, I love that their hours on the weekends are longer than traditional supermarkets so if I forget something it's super easy to pop in and grab what I need. Their range of fruit, vegetables and meat is also fresh and well varied and they carry a lot of more gourmet products too which is always fun.

  • Great experience!

IGA Dulwich Hill is one of the most beautifully presented and easily accessible supermarkets I have been to in a long time. The produce is display aesthetically, there is a great bread section and there are many products available here that you are unable to find else where. I managed to find everything I needed and stocked up on staples such as milk and bread but also managed to find some coffee on clearance that came in handy for our latest camping trip! The staff member was more than happy to use the supplied voucher and over all it was a wonderful shopping experience :) I also used the IGA app and added to my cash back!

  • Wonderful experience... Loved it

Our Winter experience with IGA was such a wonderful family outing!

We had such a lovely time exploring the store and doing our grocery shopping together. From finding our everyday essentials to discovering new products, the whole experience felt easy, enjoyable, and family-friendly.

One of the highlights was trying the fresh milk machine, where you scan your bottle and fill it with fresh milk. It was such a unique experience and something we had never done before.

Thank you, IGA, for creating such a warm and welcoming shopping experience for families. It was more than just grocery shopping.

  • Surprisingly heart-warming encounters at my local IGA!

I was pretty surprised that just by popping by at night time to stock up on some essentials, I managed to make $60 last over three shops at a local IGA! I have a few near me, but I like going to the one at Bowden. The specials were clearly marked, and there was even a trolley full of perfectly good, marked-down produce! In today's day and age, it's such a help to have a dollar stretch even further.

As a vegan, I found that everything I needed was catered for - from a range of vegan chocolates, to multiple different flavoured Kombuchas, ready meals, and a party bag - a PARTY BAG of Toobs! (They did not survive the drive home intact!)

However, I have to say the thing that sticks with me about my visits to IGA Bowden is the staff. During my first shop, the young girl told me really excitedly how she had just got her drivers license! It warmed my heart. On my second visit, the man serving me had an interesting chat with me about creative ways to reuse all those shopping bags we have lying around at home. All the staff genuinely seemed happy to be there and friendly, and endeavoured to help me with my gift card.

In a time when we are all shying away from human interaction, honestly I have to say it was so nice speaking to actual people AND that the conversations didn't feel forced at all. It left with me with a really positive feeling when I left the store, and it's a credit to the people at IGA Bowden. I will be back!

  • Super convenient pit-stop shop!

On my way home from school pick-up I stopped into Chris' IGA at Carina, QLD to buy some lunchbox snacks and dishwasher powder. The carpark was mostly full but the shop itself was spacious with wide aisles, so it didn't feel at all crowded. The aspect that stood out to me was the fact that all the shelves and fridges/freezers were fully stocked - something you don't often see at major supermarkets. The store had everything I was after, however only the smaller size for the dishwasher powder. Many popular items were on special and I ended up with more items than I had planned as a result. The checkout operator was friendly and asked for my rewards card before the scanning began. She also offered me a bag which was gratefully accepted. All in all, it was a very pleasant, efficient and fruitful shopping experience.

  • Decent shopping experience

I recently shopped at IGA and had a good overall experience. The store was clean, well organised, and easy to get around. I found most things I needed, including fresh chicken, pantry staples, drinks, cereal, and household essentials. The shelves were well stocked, and the fresh products looked good quality. The checkout process was quick, and the staff were friendly and helpful. While some items were more expensive than at larger supermarkets, the convenience and good customer service made the visit worthwhile. Overall it was a smooth shopping trip and I would happily return to IGA for my grocery shopping.

When you just want to do a quick shop and get in and get out, my local IGA had my back. I was able to pick up a bunch of specials, staples and snacks and be in and out of there in no time. And the service, like always, is EXCELLENT. I'm so pleased! I was surprised at how much I got for $60.

  • Such a great range of speciality products

My local IGA is the Piedimonte's in Fitzroy, and I am always blown away by how extensive their range of speciality items is and by the freshness of the produce section.

In our household, we love to have all of the condiments and toppings that really ignite a meal whether it be pickled veg, hot sauce, or antipasto from the deli. This is particularly important in winter when it's hard to leave the house and we're always tempted to order take away! Have all the trimmings helps to make dinner at home more exciting.

We can get everything we need, as well as any household necessities (cleaning products etc) all from IGA at really reasonable prices.

I am a vegetarian and my husband is a vegan and this IGA also has a really extensive range of meat-free and dairy-free options to help us create healthy and filling meals at home.

For anyone that hasn't checked it out before - there's also a great cafe upstairs!

  • IGA Windradyne is a nice store. Easy parking and has everything you need to save a trip all the way to the bigger stores.

I personally prefer the meat at IGA, it just seems better quality.

There is also hot food available if you’re on the go.

Whilst some products are noticeably more expensive than other supermarkets, there is often some good sales as well.

  • Perfect for my winter meals

I visited my local IGA to stock up on ingredients for two of my favourite winter meals - Tuna Mash and Peanut Butter Chicken Pasta for the slow cooker. I grabbed some fruit salad cups, the new kids Vegemite I was keen to try and a packet of sultanas, knowing we'd go through plenty over the school holidays.

I loved IGA's extended trading hours, convenient location, great range and good value. Unfortunately, my checkout experience was disappointing. I gave the staff member my IGA Rewards card to scan, but it didn't register properly. When nothing showed on my app the next day, I contacted IGA Support who thankfully manually adjusted my cashback.

The cashier also accidentally scanned three items twice. I noticed the sultanas and one packet of pasta had been double scanned when I checked my receipt in the car, as the total seemed higher than I expected. I went back into the store and received a refund. Once I got home, I realised the second packet of pasta had also been scanned twice. At that point, I couldn't justify another trip back for a $3.50 refund, although I probably should have. It finally explained why my shop came to around $80 when I had expected it to be closer to $60. I'll definitely be checking my receipt more carefully on future visits to make sure I get the best value.

Mum-of-two Rebecca McCracken has spent the last four years reading ingredient lists on pretty much everything she buys at the supermarket.

Like many parents raising kids with food allergies, a quick trip to the supermarket often means checking labels, comparing products and hoping to find something the whole family can eat.

Bec’s four-year-old son and 17-month-old daughter were both born with cow’s milk protein allergy. While her son has since outgrown his allergies, her toddler still reacts to dairy, making even everyday staples like bread a challenge.

“Unless we buy expensive sourdough for seven or eight dollars, we don’t really have a choice.”

Even then, it’s not ideal.

“A kid doesn’t want to eat a sourdough sandwich,” Bec laughs. “And fairy bread on sourdough is not great.”

A New Loaf On The Block

Bec runs an online community for allergy families, so she spends plenty of time sharing recipes, product finds and supermarket discoveries with other parents.

It was one of those parents who first told her about new JUST bread.

“A follower messaged me and said, ‘Oh my gosh, this bread is coming soon.’ I was like, ‘Where? When? I need to know. I’m getting my car keys and running!'”

Made with baker’s flour, water, yeast, vinegar, oil and salt, JUST bread contains no artificial preservatives, flavours or colours.

For Bec, it sounded almost too good to be true. “When we saw JUST bread, I was like, ‘You’re joking.’ A bread that’s fresh baked but in the bread aisle? That’s unheard of for us.”

“It was really exciting for our family and for the allergy community.”

The Family’s Toughest Critic Approved

Of course, there was one person whose opinion mattered more than anyone else’s.

“My toughest critic is my daughter. She is so fussy. We know something is really good if she approves it, and she approves it. She loves it. She’ll eat it plain, toasted, as French toast … whatever. She loves it.”

Bec says she was impressed too.

“I like it. I like that it’s only got minimal ingredients and doesn’t have the additives and preservatives that are in a lot of other brands.”

A Simpler Option For Everyday Families

Bec tried out JUST bread because of her family’s allergies, but she says it has a broader appeal.

“I think everyone is becoming more conscious of additives and preservatives in their food.”

It’s a feeling many of us can probably relate to. We don’t all want to overhaul the way we eat, but plenty of us are paying a little more attention to ingredient lists and looking for products that keep things simple.

Bread is one of those foods that’s always around. It ends up in lunchboxes, on the breakfast table, alongside soup on a cold night and covered in hundreds and thousands at birthday parties. When we eat something that often, it’s only natural to wonder what’s in it.

JUST bread keeps things simple with a handful of pantry ingredients and no artificial preservatives, flavours or colours. It’s the sort of loaf that fits easily into busy family life without asking us to compromise on taste or convenience.

Little Changes, Big Difference

For Bec, finding a loaf of bread her whole family can enjoy is about more than ticking another item off the shopping list.

“It seems like such a little thing to the normal community, but for us this is a massive win.”

Being able to make sandwiches without worrying about ingredients. Packing lunchboxes a little more easily. Bringing back fairy bread for birthdays. Sometimes it’s the little things that make family life feel a whole lot simpler.

And while Bec found JUST bread because she needed another allergy-friendly option, its simple ingredient list is likely to appeal to plenty of other families too. After all, when we can choose everyday foods made with ingredients we recognise, that’s a pretty good place to start.

JUST Bread is made on a line that also processes soy and sesame.

Mouths of Mums is proudly working with JUST. to bring you this article. JUST bread is made with just a handful of pantry ingredients.  JUST. The Good Stuff.

  • It’s at a good price point for families on a tight budget and is “cleaner” but missing the mark with Canola oil . I wouldn’t be running to a supermarket for it but it’s alot better than other varieties on the market. It’s nice to see supermarkets are at least trying and listening

    Reply

  • Most breads are dairy free anyway so I am surprised by this article. Additive free is a bonus. I always go for a grain bread nowadays and have the kids eating it too so I’ll be sticking with that. It’s always great to have variety out there though for the ones that need it.

  • We bought this bread from the supermarket and it is a good price for bread which of course can indeed be expensive. Each slice is a good size and our favourite meal to create and eat with this bread is cheese toasties. The bread holds and is good to eat.

  • I am so glad to hear about this and will definitely be on a look out for this in the supermarket. I have noticed that there are starting to be more ‘cleaner’ products in the supermarket, meaning consumers are being heard. We are going full circle back to how foods use to be produced before companies got greedy and started taking shortcuts to producing food items. I hope we continue seeing more preservative and additive free options that are affordable come back in the supermarkets.

  • Grabbing your car keys and running for a bread ?? I can’t imagine doing so for a bread lol ! It’s nice to see that more and more allergy friendly products are being produced and put on the market.
I don’t agree with the statement that “A kid doesn’t want to eat a sourdough sandwich”. It depends on what type of bread you introduce to your kids. My kids grew up with 7 seeds, rustic bread and sourdough and they love it. It’s also quite easy and cheap to make sourdough bread yourself.

  • I haven’t seen this bread in the supermarket but will be looking for it now. I have been trying to avoid preservatives and additives for some time now and as highlighted in the article bread it difficult to find, or super expensive, without them so I don’t have it often.

  • This is fantastic, finally a bread that is not full of nasty stuff. I will be going straight out to buy this. My son has ARFID and will only eat white bread, but it’s not terribly healthy. With this bread, at least I know that it is much healthier than the alternatives. Woohoo

  • I cant wait to give this bread a go (so far its always been sold out at my local woolies so it must be good). So good its suitable for those with allergies too. I think nowadays were all looking for cleaner options of ingredients in our foods so this is a step in the right direction.

  • I am glad more and more allergy friendly products are being produced and offered. I don’t agree with Bec’s statement that kids don’t like sourdough bread. My kids were introduced to sourdough and the most rustic and seeded breads from the time they started to eat bread, and they love it

  • Oh I cannot wait to try this bread! We go through that much bread each week and I always feel so guilty with how much my kids have – not anymore! Would love to see them introduce other variants in the future – multigrain and gluten free would be superb!

  • This is such a great product that I’m looking forward to trying! I’ve only been buying bread from bakeries the last few years because grocery store bread texture was so dense and unpleasant. But the hassle with bakery bread is I can’t get it everywhere! I’ll be really keen to give this a go
