Hello!

My 5 month old sleeps for 12 hours or sometimes 15 hours the night without a feed or bum change she sleeps for about 2-4 hours in the day she eats and drinks fine in the day, should I wake her to feed her or leave her? She drinks s26 gold formula.

  • I would definitely speak to maternal child health nurse or GP and if she’s putting on weight and meeting all milestones then maybe she’s just a good sleeper but I would want to be sure there’s nothing underlying.

  • My brother slept all the time as a baby and he turned out fine.

  • let her go – how many kids do you know in the western world that die of starvation? enjoy the peace and be rest assured she is doing what she needs to do naturally x also, if you are concerned there may be an illness GO TO DOCS XXX

  • I’d leave it if she’s putting on weight and healthy. Some bus just need me sleep than others. You’re lucky, most complaints are about bubs not sleeping enough!!

  • You are making me jealous! If she wants to sleep, let her sleep!!!!

  • wow sounds like the perfect baby lucky u

  • there are some good comments here

  • let her sleep, if shes hungry she will wake

  • i would be so excited to have that much sleep

  • Sounds perfectly normal to me and they will sleep more during a growth spurt

  • I would have loved for my children to sleep right through, some children do need more sleep than others. As long as she is healthy, it should be ok. As kids we used to sleep 10 to 12 hours a day.

  • All kids are different, I would have loved a baby that slept. Sounds ok to me, but my doctor always said he would rather get a lot of silly questions than missing one important one. Check with your doctor but some babies do sleep really well. Enjoy it while it lasts.

  • The number one rule I try to follow is NEVER wake a sleeping baby, lol! If she is hungry or wants a nappy change, she will wake up.

  • dont wake her she will wake when she is ready

  • What a wonderful thing for you, to have a child who sleeps well and obviously feeds well.
In my humble opinion, if your child is hitting all the milestones, is putting on weight, is happy and bright and alert, then she’s getting enough food and enjoying her sleep. Enjoy the time you have on your hands, as you may find that things may change when your little girl starts teething. I am totally against waking a sleeping baby, so I say leave her to sleep. Good luck!

  • if the child is sleeping, do not wake it for a feed, even the professionals are now saying leave the child sleep they will wake when hungry. Here is a link to further information on sleep times for children from birth to 18 yrs old, you will be surprised by the recommended sleep times.

  • Enjoy it, as long as she is doing all the other normal things (putting a weight on..ect) then leave her,

  • As long as she is putting on weight and growing and seems otherwise healthy then rejoice in the fact that you are one very lucky Mum.
After having my eldest who never slept more then 15mins at a time (seriously) and then having baby #2 who slept 8hours through the night from day one and the nurses at the hospital teling me I would have to wake her….there was no way i was going to and i didnt…i delighted in having a bub that slept

  • I would let her sleep, she is doing well with her daytime feeding and you are very lucky to have a baby that sleeps so well

  • If she’s happy, healthy and meeting her milestones I’d be happy…
