If you can go with local, I would do that, although you need to ensure you child is going to be emotionally ok with that. General can just have impacts I’ve found.

It would be great if our bodies didn’t give us extra teeth that are usually just problems for us. No wonder life expectancy was so low before modern medicine. I’ve had both my upper ones removed in my teens as normal extractions at the dentist. The lower teeth are usually more difficult to remove. I kind of wish the dentists used gas like in America so don’t have to be awake and aware of what’s happening. So uncomfortable.

My daughter needed hers removed and she opted for a hospital visit to be completely knocked out. Her mouth was really sore and swollen for many days, so I’m not sure if one bodes more for a speedy recovery or not

CHAIR!! I had mine done under general and they were so rough because I was unconscious. At least in the chair they have to be kind of gentle!

I would go for the least painful option…knock me out plz. Further advice….it hurts so have plenty of pain relief available

Definitely general!! You don’t want him going thru that excruciating pain. And get it done ASAP otherwise it will make other teeth uneven.

I would advise General Anaesthetic. It is not a pleasant operation/procedure.

Get a second opinion. When I was 18, I was suffering badly with my wisdom teeth and was given the options your son was given, except the dentist wanted to remove all 4 of my wisdom teeth. I got a second opinion – the second dentist advised me to rinse my mouth with warm salt water 4 times a day and see how I felt in a months time. I am now 50 yrs old still with all 4 wisdom teeth! I may be exceptional, but warm salt water mouth rinses was a much cheaper and more palatable solution for me.

I had mine out while awake, and it wasn’t particularly pleasant but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be… The relief was immediate once the teeth were gone & recovery very quick

I think it depends a bit on your child – my doctor prefers to give me a general, for example, because I react pretty badly to being conscious while things are done to me. But everyone is different.

It would be best to get both done in hospital under a general then it is all over and done with at once

I think that getting wisdom teeth out is better to be done in hospital. Both teeth can be taken out at the same time and thus the recovery time will be quicker than getting one out at a time. Remember to give only soft foods after the wisdom teeth removal and to keep the mouth exceptionally clean.

A general anesthetic is kinder, less pain believe me.
