Hello!

Are anti-bacterial sprays safe in the kitchen? I’m curious about whether or not it’s safe to use anti-bacterial sprays in the kitchen and anti-bacterial wipes on the bench tops. What do other mums think?

  • Yes, CleanLIFE surface disinfectant (Food Grade) contains Hypochlorous Acid (HOCL), which provides more potent germ-killing effects than bleach and hypochlorite cleaners, without the chlorine residues or odour. Suitable for use on surfaces to kill germs, pathogens and bacteria. Hypochlorous acid is NON_HAZARDOUS and is found naturally in the while blood cells of mammals, including the human body.

    Kills 99.99% of germs
Leaves no harmful chemicals or chlorine residues
No chemical migration when in direct contact with foods
Safe when in contact with food.

  • I use natural sprays that are kitchen safe

  • It’s safe, but I suspect that over time it reduces the effectiveness of anti bacterial agents – I’d save them for when we really need them.

  • I think they’re okay every once in a while. I wouldn’t overuse them.

  • I am a fan of baking soda and vinegar – it is ant bacterial and natural, and damn it gets stainless sinks clean!

  • I think they’re okay, but I’d rather use soap/dishwashing liquid and water to clean surfaces.

  • I think so ! Really interesting comments read on this!

  • I use Eucalyptus oil diluted with water. It’s a natural disinfectant.

  • I think that they are over rated, but I do like anti bac sprays especially with grease cutting power, as it makes it easier to clean, I find that with the more natural alternatives that a lot more elbow grease is required and I have arthritis in my hands so anything that makes my life easier I will use. and if they work why not use them, I think our kids are still exposed to a lot of germs anyway. so their immune systems still work well.

  • I think anti bacterial cleaners are over rated. Proper handwriting, thorough Beach top cleaning and regularly changing cleaning cloths.

  • I use a homemade oil spray which I learned from a amazing scents home party if your interested on going chemical etc free you should look at them

  • don’t spray on dishes or food and be careful spraying it on baby toys

  • I use antibacterial wipes in the kitchen and bathroom. The only time I used spray was when somebody had a very contagious illness and I wanted to ensure none of us caught it or the patient was re-infected at all, Using just wipes would have been a full time chore leaving no time for anything else otherwise. We at least needed plenty of sleep and to eat etc.

  • I only use wipes for bench tops not anti bacterial sprays.

  • I use the wipes on the bench top but I limit using antibacterial sprays

  • i use diluted detol in ours

  • People have been using, dettol and pine o clean as a anti bacteria product for years. but if u are worried about these products and want to use homemade products the best is half water / half white vinegar, if u want to disguise the smell add either a few drops of lemon or lavender oil.

  • I just use vinegar and bicarb to clean in the kitchen. Then I am certain it is safe!

  • there are some good comments here

  • It depends on the chemical used. I personally would never use it preferring natural ones there are many on the market and you can easily make your own spray using lavender or eucalyptus oils.
