Hello!

Does anyone have any suggestions for easy, but nutritional lunches for an 8 month old baby please?
Bub only has his two bottom teeth, so they need to be foods that he can chew with his gums.

  • Try veggies! My kids loved steamed mushrooms, mashed peas, sweet potato etc and are fabulous eating their veggies to this day.

  • I havent read every other response, but sandwiches, fruit/vege sticks, cheese, yoghurt (calcium is really important) but baby lead weaning is amazing so whatever you each feed bub!

  • Thankyou so much for your responses everyone! Can’t wait to give some of your suggestions a try.

  • I give my son a bit of what the rest of us are eating and for snacks or if we’re having steak etc and he can’t chew it I steam veggies for him and he’ll pick it up himself.

  • I try to give a little of what we have for lunch. My favourite go to meals are mashed fruits (think banana, etc) with oats or otherwise I will give a variety of fruit, vege or cheese slices that bub can pick up herself whilst we eat at the table. I place apple, steamed beans or carrot sticks on her high chair tray and she loves it.

  • Soft veggie sticks, fruit, cheese, yoghurt, pasta, rice etc. Don’t be too afraid to give bub food that needs to be chewed… their gums are pretty tough!

  • Avocado sticks were always a hot for my bub. Scrambled egg with small cut up squares of toast. My Bub also used to loved roasted sweet potato chips.

  • My 8month old eats ‘family foods’ so if we have a roast I puree her vegies and add water or yogurt for a smoother texture, she likes finger foods so I give her baby rice cakes, steamed vegies, cooked pasta. She has no teeth and a preference for sweet/fruit rather than the healthy stuff. She should also be on soft lumps at her age but doesn’t like the texture and protests profusely so I do what I can

  • There are so many fruits and vegetables out there, stewed and puréed, voila healthy meals. Then there’s cheese sticks, fruit pieces (soft ones like banana and citrus etc first), yoghurt, toast is always a good option….lots of toppings for toast too and eggs. Hope this helps
