  • We played put the dummy in the baby’s mouth,we had to cut a piece of string to guess the size of mums tummy.Find a word themed on babies.Games made it fun!

  • Baby blessings are very popular these days, buy I think it’s just a fancy word for baby shower. I love the games, they are most fun at showers.

  • 6-8 weeks before ur due date is a good time… measuring the belly game is great fun – if ur not easily offended :p a high tea is nice :)

  • I recently went to a baby shower where everyone had to mould a ‘baby’ out of play dough and the mum-to-be judged the best…and worst, that was pretty funny.

  • get toilet paper and guesstimate how much you would need to measure the belly
guess the gender, length and weight of baby for when it is born
guess the date and time of birth

    have it at 34-36 weeks

  • Maybe get one of your friends to help.. You can get someone to make you a nappy cake.. Theme it all pink and white , and games such as change the nappy, the fastest, bottle -how fast people ca drink out of a bottle etc

  • i made a nappy cake from dispoable nappyies put a toys some socks bottle on top for decorations mum to be got the cake !!! i also played many games like guess how big mums belly is so each persom had to cut a bit of string to how long they think belly is also every one go a dummy foe a necklace and picked a word that they are not allowed to say eg something related to baby so belly bubs ect and if you said it you lost the necklace had to try to cheap it all baby shower what baby food is that i got apples punkin custards all in a bowl they all had to taste the baby food and guess what it was had decorations up as a clothe line and had baby clothes hanging up at the end of the party my sister the mum to be got them clothes that was there also i had a book for every one to write some advice or something well wishes ect for mum to be to look at latter on down the track

  • I never had a baby shower but my friends who I just went to did a few games two that were funny she froze icecubes (with small plastic babies in them) and gave everyone one to melt in their hands once they baby was free you waters had ‘broken’ and you were the winner. The other was guess how big their tummy is by cutting a piece of string. With the food just make it finger food especially if its an afternoon thing maybe you could ask people to bring a plate they would be happy to do that.

  • I think around 30 weeks! Google some games to play there is alot of good ones out there:)

  • pinterest is great for ideas on birthdays baby showers etc and the great thing is you can pinn ideas you see and like to a album :)

  • Pinterest has some great party ideas. worth scrolling through.

  • I hope you find something fun to do :) I must be the only person I know that didn’t want/have one!

  • I just wanted afternoon tea with my girlfriends – last chance for an uninterrupted chat!

  • For my sisters baby shower we decorated baby singlets as a game with the best 3 she liked getting prizes but she loved the personal touch of the singlets :) we did hers in the June and she had her baby in the July both of mine were done the month before I had my kids :)

  • I made a fruity baby carriage – it was a hollowed out 3/4 of a watermelon then half a honeydew (or rockmelon) then grapes and sultanas for eyes and you fill it with watermelon, honeydew and rockmelon balls. Everyone loved it. If you google fruity baby carriage you will see what it looks like and prob find instructions on how to make it.

  • I had my baby shower a few weeks before my daughter was due.

  • Our baby shower was a gathering of people whom we adore. We didn’t have a whole lot of structure – it was more about spending time, talking and being excited about the expectant baby. We played a few games mentioned previously, but it was honestly just nice to have all our favourite people in the one room with plenty of food and drinks.

A baby shower is one of the nicest ways to celebrate with your nearest and dearest the fact that you’re about to become a mumma. But how do you make sure that your baby shower is different to everyone else’s? What can you do to ensure you and your guests have a truly special day?

Here are some baby shower ideas for different types of showers to make sure your day is as individual and special as the little bubba on the way.

    1. Pick your favourite restaurant

Don’t feel like you have to stray from what you know and love just to make your day special. There are reasons why it’s your favourite place to eat and you know you will have a fabulous time. What is more personal and individual for YOUR day than your favourite venue?

    2. Head to the Day Spa

Once your little one arrives opportunities will be few and far between to get a massage or full body scrub. Take full advantage of your current downtime. It wont be long before the closest you get to an organic vegetable facial scrub is cleaning pureed carrot off your eyelids after a direct hit from your little cherub!

    3. High Tea

Stacks of finger food and sweet treats. Need I say more to a pregnant lady?

    4. Head Away for the Weekend

Who says that a baby shower has to be limited to a few hours and you can’t have a ‘baby shower weekend extravaganza??’ Grab your closest friends and head somewhere completely impractical for someone with a baby – because you still can!

    5. Girls Only

The traditional baby shower. An oldie but a goodie. Even if you feel like you have been to a squillion girls only baby showers before, the fact that it is all about you and your little one makes it completely unique and special. Hiring some fabulous decorating items, introducing a theme or making a statement with your choice of entertainment are all ways to make sure your baby shower is different to all the others you have been to before.

    6. Include Partners

Dads to be and other partners get the short straw when it comes to celebrating a new bubba. They are forced to head out with their friends to ‘wet the baby’s head’ and get drunk while you, the new mum, is stuck in hospital trying to figure out what to do with this little person that has suddenly appeared.

    Um… Hang on a second…

Well, regardless – it’s still a nice idea to include the boys in your baby shower and a different way to spend the day. You will be surprised how excited they will get about the shower and the Dad-To-Be will be very grateful for the opportunity to gather some last minute tips and tricks from your friends.

    7. Head to your local Watering Hole

It could be the last time you get there for a while! Just because you are pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t head to the pub. There aren’t many meals more satisfying than a counter meal which is always front of mind for a pregnant lady! And you can get some last minute brownie points stored in the bank by being the designated driver.

Gender reveal parties and baby showers are quickly becoming a hot trend for parents who want to share the joyous news with friends and family around. The great thing about gender reveal parties is that men can be invited, too! The reveal can be for the guests or the guests and parents alike.

    Use the Cake

A genius way to find out the sex of your baby is to use a gender reveal cake. How does it work, you ask? At your doctor visit, ask for the sex of the baby to be written and placed in a sealed envelope. By using food coloring to die the cake mix, the party guests will be learn the sex of the baby once the cake is cut into. On one episode of “Cake Boss” a couple enlisted the help of cake maker extraordinaire Buddy Valastroto make their gender reveal cake. This couple didn’t even know the sex of the baby until they cut into their cake, so it was a surprise to everyone. The cake itself can be decorated a variety of ways, depending on what the theme is of your party. Some ideas:

Baby carried by a stork with the words, “He? She? Open to see!”
    A diaper shaped cake reading “It’s a. . .”
A bee shaped cake reading “What could it bee”
    Registering for Gifts

Since you don’t know the sex of the baby, you should ask for gender neutral, necessity items. They include:

    Crib, mattress and crib sheets
    Changing station
    Diapers and wipes
    Bath time items
Onesies or any gender neutral clothes
    Stroller
    Car seat
    Portable crib
    Pack and play
Aside for the necessities, you can ask for gift cards and money, that way once the gender is revealed you can buy specific clothing items. You could also ask for gifts that benefit you as the parent, like parenting books. “The 10 Commandments of Parenting” is a great book for all new parents to read. Author Ed Young draws from decades of counseling and raising his children to help others by detailing clear and simple rules to parenting. Included amongst Young’s commandments are “Thou Shalt Spend Time With Thy Children” and “Thou Shalt Discipline Thy Children.”

    Name Suggestions

Before the excitement of shower games and presents being unwrapped, what can guests do while eating food? Instead of having them sit there twiddling their thumbs and making idle chit-chat, encourage them to think of baby names. Supply guests with pink and blue pieces of paper and have them write down name suggestions: one boy name and one girl name. At the end of the party, the mother-to-be can go through all the names and save the ones she likes.

    The Games

The Diaper Game: This one is fun AND just the right amount of embarrassing for everyone involved. It includes diapers and poop (well, chocolate). Take a few varieties of chocolate bars and microwave one bar with one diaper. I recommend using Hershey’s, 100 Grand, Snickers and Twix bars. Once melted in the microwave, pass around the “loaded diapers” and have guests guess which diaper has which chocolate. This makes for some picture-worthy moments seeing as it looks like everyone is sniffing, and eating, a dirty diaper!

Old Wives Tales: Specific to gender reveal parties is the Old Wives Tales games, in which you ask the mother a series of questions, ultimately revealing the sex of the baby, according to the Old Wives Tales. Some questions include:

Do you crave the heels of bread or the middle? Heels: Boy; Middle: Girl.
Eating more or sick/nauseated: Eating more: Boy; Sick: Girl.
During the pregnancy have you been crabby or happy? Crabby: Girl; Happy: Boy.
Carrying low or high? Low: Boy; High: Girl.
Show Your Spirit: Not a game per se, but have the guests guess what the mommy will be having. Supply guests with either pink or blue pins and have them choose a side! The friendly competition will add the the fun of the party. Once they choose a side, have them wear the corresponding color.
