Hello!

I’m needing some ideas to make healthy meals that my 3 year old will eat to get him bigger! He’s tall and has a fast metabolism. Fruit and carbs no probs! My 7 and 1 year old eat everything but the middle one is fussy. Perhaps a testing stage but I need some mums inspiration please!

  • Definitely following for some good suggestions in the comments. I need some ideas like these for my 4 year old.

  • If he likes pasta I’d go with lots of that with hidden vege shredded into the sauce.

  • Do they like eggs? If so they are a great food for littleies. scrambled, boiled or poached.

  • Hi Danika, I feel your pain lol. I don’t know if this will help but if your child will eat homemade spaghetti, you can add anything grated and they wont even know that’s it’s in it.
Some of the things that I have added over the years are carrots, zucchini, mushroom, bacon, onion, squash, pumpkin, broccoli, cauliflower, capsicum, Brussel sprouts, eggplant, cabbage, sweet potato and parsnips. Good luck ????

  • Thank you everyone for your suggestions, I’m giving them all a go. ????

  • Yes I have the same problem. My 4 year old twins are really fussy. And if one doesn’t eat it the other doesn’t even look at it.

  • Maybe also source books on nutrition; I have always found then very helpful.

  • Maybe find some children’s cookbooks and cook together. Often cooking together can inspire children to choose recipes, help with making food and eating it. There are a wealth good cookbooks in bookshops and local libraries.

  • Whatever it is try getting the child involved in the preparation, cooking or serving to create interest.

  • I feel your pain! My 3 year old is very picky too. Try incorporating colorful veggies into familiar dishes, like sneaking spinach into pasta sauce or adding veggies to omelets. Make food fun with creative shapes, and involve your 3-year-old in the kitchen to build interest and excitement about healthy options.
