I’m gonna have to say marshmallows lol. Is it really camping if you don’t toast marshmallows? haha; My kids would say no..
Also, seriously, I would make sure you have a first aid kit and a complete change of clothes ( x2 if there’s water involved )
Tent + posts and pegs (you’ll need a hammer too)
Something to sleep on, sleeping bag or blankets and a pillow
Camp chairs, a collapsable table, a mat for little one to sit on
Something to cook on, cook and clean with
If the weather is hot pack loose fitting thin clothes since you will be outside
If the weather is cold pack extra layers
Lights that can hang off things, mosquito coils or aeroguard.
Toilet paper
We take a chamois cloth to wipe the condensation off our tent, and pack a dustpan and broom to brush the dirt off things (feet, inside of tent, swag or mat)
For a little one:
If its cold: beanie, mitten, LAYERS.
Closed shoes, and lots of outfits
Snacks
Toys (we like to pack toy diggers and animals, bubbles, colouring in books, books, a ball, and a bucket and spade, we usually try to avoid any kind of soft toy so they don’t get filthy and small toys so they don’t get lost)
Mosquito bracelet. Also maybe glow sticks that connect so they can wear it as a necklace or bracelet, that way you can see them. Enclosed shoes, a towel and extra clothes for all types of weather conditions. Outdoor toys (no devices). Books and colouring books and chalk
A big cooler with lots of water. If you can get one with a spout that you push the button for running water, its great for camping. I’m sure Bunnings has them. Oh and marshmallows of course.
If you’re bush camping …… 0) Add an insulation mat to the tent, sleeping bag (and extra blankets/pillows etc. in winter) and also hammer to bang in pegs if ground stony; 1) Drinking water supply;2) Food that you can eat, and if you need to heat then stove/cooking method along with matches; 2a) maybe a flask if you can’t be bothered to boil water for coffee etc.. 3) Utensils/ mugs; 4) Torch, with charging method or spare batteries; 5) Toilet paper and trowel (assuming no toilets!); 6) Warm clothing .. by that stage we usually decide we might as well go for the week since you’ve done all the hard work! 7) Something to do at night …Download star map of sky for your phone and spot the constellations; more torches and batteries for walks; glowsticks; campfire marshmallows etc.
Pack plenty of warm clothes and shoes, toiletries and personal hygiene needs. A camping kit is a camping essential with a first aid kit a must have item. Plenty of food and drinks and ready to eat snacks. Requirements for camping depends on if a camp kitchen is used or own equipment. Showering and toileting is similar if using amenities or own equipment. It is worthwhile having a look online at camping stores and in store for basic camping needs and ideas. Also take books, toys and games.
Jackets, hats & gloves (it gets cold at night); Diapers/nappies (if applicable); Camp chairs; Baby wipes (they’re good for just about everything); Basic first aid kit; Toilet paper; Torch; Matches or lighter; Insect repellant
