Some Drs. will not remove the uterus if they decide you are too young. I know one lady who requested that because has 2 children, has a back problem and definitely they don’t want any more children. She wanted her Uterus removed because she has terrible pains with her periods, sometimes she can’t even stand up alone. They only did a tubal litigation. She was told she will probably end up having to have a hysterectomy a few years anyway. I know another lady who already had 4 children who asked to have her tubes tied (the last was a high risk pregnancy) and they didn’t want to do it. When she told them she already had 4 children they agreed.

I had my womb lasered. They take off the lining of the womb, and you don’t get periods either!! It is awesome. Also, if you decide you want kids, they can give you some kind of drug to reinstate periods. Painless and brilliant!!

It depends on age and circumstances and your body. I would suggest a visit and discussion with your GP and get plenty of information on all options.

Before deciding if permanent contraception is for you please look into post tubal ligation syndrome. As someone who suffers from this I would recommend your partner undergo a vasectomy rather than you having tubal ligation done. All the best

I currently have the mirena implant you only need to get it changed every five year. ( or removed when the time is right for more kids) Had it for six months now with no issues other than a little disscomfort at and after fitting it for a week or so. My periodsare a lot lighter and i see it as a long term use not a short term one.

If you really want to have a permanent contraception, I suggest that you go to you local doctor, and ask him if he can do a Tubal Ligation, but while you are at it make sure that you make him understand that you want it done permantally. Saying this you will also have to have you tubes Tied and burnt out so there will never be a chance of you ever falling pregnant again. Hopefully this will suit you, but that is if you are female. If for the husband have a vasectomy which will last forever

My mum had her tubes tied about 15 years ago and she has had no negatives effect. I suggest speaking to your gp or family planning centre who are really good at explaining everything because everyone’s different. I have a marina which gives you 5 years contraception and you can remove it if you want another child in that time. Good luck.
