  • Keep an eye on sales during the year.
I picked up just yesterday a set of 4 crockery bowls in their own stand for $5. They will be awesome as soup bowls and look wonderful on display.
Have a local book seller that had $3 book sale and there were loads of recent titles, lots of kids books and cooking books.
The book seller also had several 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles for $5.
Its July now and Myer have last Christmas stock for ultra cheap and have the 12 days of Christmas candle advent calendars for $10

The list goes on. never leave it until the last minute

  • I keep an eye out for bargains all through the year. I love to find the mini peppermint grove candles for $9.95 at TK Maxx or some beautiful stationery. Also homemade cookies are always a huge success

  • Lindt normally have $10 chocolates at Christmas at Safeway and Coles on special. You can’t go wrong!

  • candles, a nice inspirational plaque, name cup, pamper pack

  • There are some decent cartons of beer around the $40 mark. There are 4, 6 packs inside and a six pack of beer is a present plenty of blokes like to receive. This time of the year liquor stores bring in tubs of mixed nuts and snacks that are under $10. Tubs of Malteasers and M&M’s are on special as well. You can make your own gifts of shortbread or rocky road and wrap up in Christmas cellophane.

  • Chocolates, homemade baking including things like rum balls, fudge, cookies etc.

  • I make homemade biscuits with coloured m&m’s. Always a big hit

  • Woolies have small Darrel Lea Rocky Road for $1 at the moment. I’m going to pair that with a Coles gingerbread man and my SIL & BIL’s are done. Also some seeds & pots wrapped up will do my in laws and parents.

  • Sweets and baking Homebase goods, gingerbread sweats a pannetone?

  • Liquor chocolates
    A plant or maybe flowers

  • The kids love making a christmas tree decoration or making a tea towel which they decorate with fabric markers. I also usually whip up some treats (cookies, chocolates etc)

  • I make my own candles to give out as lovely handmade Christmas gifts, I am also going to decorate some plant pots this year as I have been taking cuttings of my plants and potting them all year and I think these will make a lovely personal cheap gift

  • I like to spend an afternoon cooking, then make gift parcels. Chutney, jam, or cookies.. Whatever you can cook is a bit different than the usual gift. Just make a cute label and add some gift ribbon.

  • pot plant, baking or something home made (soap, candles, body scrub etc)

I try to stay away from giving ‘stuff’ as I don’t like receiving it.
If generally try to give something that the person can enjoy and use and then they don’t have it taking up space in their house.

  • I like to bake shortbreads

  • Some Christmas cookies, a stollen, a panettone or pandoro.

  • Theres a range of body shop gift ideas that can suite anyone.athey come in beautiful boxes so it’s easy to give and it’s a nice gift

  • Buy some $2 terracotta pots and get the kids to decorate with some paints. Buy some cheap seedlings from Bunnings and plant them now. By the time Christmas comes around you will have some nice maturing plants in personalised pots for around $5-6 bucks each.

  • Perhaps a small cheap hamper of tea/biscuits and fresh flowers

  • Homemade cookie or gingerbread. Candles
