Hello!

Can I please have advice from mothers of children who have chronic or ongoing respiratory problems. Every year for 6 months on and off my 3 year old boy battles constant bouts of bronchitis and various upper respiratory illnesses that seem to be getting worse. Can those in the know please recommend a good product that helps with this. Nothing warm steam though, I’ve tried 2 of these and they only make his coughing fits worse. Thank you

  • I remembered one year when I had very bad bronchitis for two weeks , I just used something simple like steam and Vicks , plus rubbing some on my chest made a big difference to my recovery . Also at that time I didn’t know about Black Liquid Echnichea which I use if I have any respiratory infections , but your kids may find it too strong for them . When my kids were small, I used to consult with my doctor or childhood nurse often as normally the way symptoms are treated are a little bit different from the adults , so if all else fails, just chat to a medical expert .

  • vapouriser for me…. love em

  • Yes I agree with salt lamps are pretty wonderful!

  • Definitely agree with the air purifier and I do suggest if they have a persistent dry cough, to use a vaporizer with the menthol liquid, helps ease the cold symptoms without the need for cough medicines etc.

  • My children were always getting chest infections especially my eldest who always got a cough that turned in to a chest infection the doctors had him on a preventative puffer he was on it for years. I then discovered Doterra Oils Breathe and On Guard since using them and diffusing in there rooms we no longer have a puffer and very rare for them to get sick highly recommend

  • The salt lamps are wonderful!

  • My baby grandson responds to clearing his airways with a nebulizer but his little chest still feels rattily so any other ideas to improve him would be helpful thanks!

  • I’ve got a friend who uses a himalayan salt lamp. She said it helps her little girl who suffers the same kind of illnesses plus bad asthma. Might be worth looking in to.

  • I would talk to your sons doctor or specialist about what the recommend now as it seems to change. If you are in a health care fun you should be eligible for a rebate too.

  • Totally agree with the previous comment about trying the air purifier,a few years ago we to tried the hummidifier but it made my son worse and started causing issues with the steam on the walls in his room from the steam. We justthen let him get his steam from sitting in the ensuite when i have a hot shower with out the fan on.
We purchased one of thoose air puifiers to get rid off the germs in the air when the kids are ill and the illnesses seem to be shorter. They can sometimes depending on brand be used with some kid of liquid which you purchase with them that leaves a plesent scent in the air. But with som people the scent can also cause issues.
But in saying that my son did need to see a Ear, nose and through specilist and have his tonsils and adniods out due to having cronic ongoing infections .

  • Well i am not sure about these products if he is coughing from the steam but you should get an air purifier. I have one that is a fan also but it reduces the allergens and dust in the air. We live right next to a busy road and i find that i dust less and the air smells better. It will be great especially now in winter.

  • Sorry you are going through this.
I would think you need what I was looking at, one of those ultrasonic vapouriser that also has a diffuser
