Only my youngest who has Down syndrome gets the flu shot here as people with Down Syndrome have a lower immune system and are in general more prone to sicknesses
Yes! this year is the first year, mr3 and I had ours last week, and he did so well! Very brave! the first year they get one and then a month later get a second.
It was never something I considered until my son got very sick and ended up in hospital. His immune system is shot so to protect his as much as I can he gets the flu vaccine
When our first bub was about 2 and a half, our family doctor recommended he have the flu shot .. so we gave it to him and I am SO glad we did. When a vicious (hospitalising) strain of Influenza went through our day care, he was one of the very few not to get it. He now gets it every year, as does his younger sister !!
We’re going oversease and I asked my GP today and he said that its upto me (which wasn’t really helpful) but he said babies can get it too. I have 6, 4,3 year old and 10 month old.
I hadn’t until last year when my teens were 14 and 15 and were heading to NZ. They are in year 10 and 11 this year and will be having the ‘flu vaccination again as it’s such important years for them both. My Dr said it wasn’t necessary for our 4 year old last year as he was still building immunity. best to discuss with your doctor though as everyone is different.
My husband and I both had it last year and will again this year. I got swine ‘flu the year before and it was awful.
We did the whole family after the year we all had the flu (as in influenza, not just a bad cold). The joint aches, headaches, temperatures and complete debilitating sickness that comes with influenza is horrible. Our youngest was 8 years old.
