Shopping at Costco can be worth it, but it really depends on what you’re buying and how you shop. I don’t use their petrol, but I still find savings on bulk items like nappies, cleaning products, and pantry staples. The key is knowing your prices—sometimes the bigger sizes aren’t always cheaper compared to supermarket specials, so I stick to the things I know are good value.

For fresh food, I find the quality is great, especially the meat and baked goods, but it’s only worth it if you have freezer space or a big family to share with. I’ve also saved on things like vitamins, kitchen gadgets, and seasonal items—they often have great deals that beat other stores.

Some things are cheaper, you just need to know what. The problem is that you tend to overbuy unless you are there every weekend

Yes, though it honestly depends on what products you buy regularly. We found their nappies good value, and some things like Passata (which we use regularly) are also a lot cheaper. You need to keep an eye out though – not everything is cheaper. Mind you, we’ve also done very well with some things like Hoover vacuum cleaner, Sealy mattress, at much lower prices.

Some products are significantly cheaper whereas others are on par with a supermarket special. Depends on what you are after. I have saved heaps there over the years.

It depends on what you’re buying – if you have space for bulk amounts, then yes, it can be cost and time saving. I tend to buy up big on things I use lots of or that don’t go off/can be kept for a long time.
Sometimes it’s also fun to just add something different in to your repertoire ie asian soup packets etc.
We don’t have petrol at our ‘local’ store so can’t comment on that.

I’ve never shopped there but, from what I’ve heard, unless you buy in bulk, you don’t see much saving. Which is okay if there a lot of you sharing the stuff or you have plenty of storage and freezer space, but that doesn’t work for most of us. Non-perishables would be okay but you wouldn’t want bulk fresh produce because it would go off before you got through it all. Interesting to read all the comments here from who it works for and those it doesn’t.

We don’t have one close to us. The cost of getting there would be more that the price savings.

I have to admit. I paid the high fee and purchased some items and didn’t return again. Probably not worth it for me.

Things like the meat and the nappies, pet food etc are really good savings too, but the petrol is amazing!!

I love Costco for filling up our freezing. I love the meats and chicken there as it tastes better once frozen. Also frozen dumplings are a favourite on our list. Anything else i normally get from Woolies or Coles to save on storage space as our home is small.

I love shopping at Costco, especially things like toilet paper, washing powder and fabric softener, it lasts longer.
More over I find that buying nappies in bulk for my grandson is cheaper and food that you can cook for the whole week and store in the fridge/freezer.
Sometimes when its Christmas or time for get together at work or with friends, Costco is the place to buy large quantities of prepared foods like sandwiches, platters or cakes and salads of different kinds.
It saves time and everyone is happy. No need for being a slave, you get time to enjoy your friends and work mates.
Then no dish washing, you can buy disposable plates in bulk.

I find I spend a large amount when I go but I end up saving overall in the long run.
Some stuff is cheaper in bulk and other stuff not cheaper than woolies or coles.
The nappies are cheap and cat food and cleaning products lol. You can also cancel your membership and get refunded , there’s a cooling off period if you’re not happy.

Costco is also good for stocking up the freezer.

You will only save if you have a big family or have people to share the goods with, as all their items comes in bulk.
I’ve been several times and walked out the door with at least $300 bill.
Also there is a yearly membership fee

I love Costco for buying in bulk and we do save money.
It requires organisation and storage and sticking to a shopping list and avoiding impulse purchases.
We stock up on toilet rolls, toiletries, general groceries and staples for the pantry and other goods.

My parents both have memberships there but they then have to pay for the petrol to drive there (at least 20 mins from home) and pay for parking. The times I have been with them as a guest they really didn’t have anything too cheap, yes they had the bulk but it really didn’t make a difference as it was basically the same price on sale at coles or woolies. They have a great variety and carry a lot of items that other places don’t have. My folks shop there maybe once a month but use it as a day out rather than a regular grocery shop. It is a good novelty for us to go and look
