Hello!

We’ve been invited to a gender reveal party, our first, do you take a gift or wait for a baby shower or until bub is born?

  • In the case you want to give something I would keep it very simple ! For example some little baby socks or even a handmade card can be lovely !

  • Depends who it is and what relationship you have with the expectant mum. A hug and your presence at the gender reveal party can be a gift on itself ;)

  • I’ve never been to one, but I would take a gender neutral little gift.

  • I would wait for the baby shower or when the baby is born.

  • When in double buy a nice gift for mum (creams etc – something to make her feel good) and buy the baby something for the baby shower or when he/she is born.

  • I would say no if they are having a baby shower but if no baby shower and this is in place of then yes. Never been to one so can’t speak from experience sorry

  • Oh my goodness, people will have a party for anything nowadays won’t they?! I’ve never been to gender reveal party so I can’t help

  • I usually take a small gift, only a little thing, I save the bigger gift for when they’re born. All these new party ideas, they’re just money grubbing things I think

  • If they are having a baby shower as well then wait for the baby shower. You can always take a gift for the parents like you do for a normal party though.m

  • maybe just take some food. ask the host what they prefer but you usually save the gifts for the shower or birth

  • I’d ask if it was taking the place of a baby shower, or if they were having both. If both, then no, if it’s instead, then take a gift.

  • I would think not? perhaps ask if they are having a baby shower too!

  • Are they having a baby shower? Maybe this is in place of a baby shower? If it is in place of a baby shower I would take a gift. If not, then I would only gift at the baby shower and then maybe get something nice for mum when the baby is born

  • I had a gender reveal party. We never asked for gifts, just had a lovely day where our close family and friends came over, I made a high tea and we had our daughter open a big box that released balloons the colour of our baby’s gender. It was a wonderful day and for us it was about keeping our daughter feeling special through the pregnancy and it was a way she could let everyone know the gender and we got to have a lovely day. A few people bought some gifts because we didn’t have a baby shower, the rest didn’t. It isn’t really about gifts.

  • Maybe a gift for Mum… The baby gift should wait until the shower.

  • I wouldn’t take a gift. I think people have a baby shower too.

  • I’m not sure but would probably bring a gender neutral present if it were me?

  • I don’t know if they replace a baby shower, so many different parties these days

  • Thanks ASHBLONDE for explaining a gender reveal party. :)

  • My DIL is having one & she has asked the Dr to write the sex of the bub & place in a envelope for her best friend to reveal the sex by baking a cake with the colour inside to reveal for boy or girl. I think it is a lovely idea & any gift for the bub would be sweet.
