Hello!

My 8 year old will not eat bread, rolls, toast, wraps or buns. What do I put in his lunchbox? He hates vegetable at the best of times. He lives on pasta, noodles and some meat and vegetables at tea time.

  • maybe try rice cakes or cruskets if you are after a bread substitute.

  • Pasta, noodles, meat and some veggies are beautiful lunchbox fillers. Twiggy sticks, cheese sticks, roast chicken breast bites, Tuna cracker packs, cheese cracker or dipper packs, mini cucumbers, roast corn kernels, roast chick peas, roast broad beans, veggie chips, yoghurts with muesli, pasta salads, boiled eggs, etc.

  • make some mini fruit and vegie muffins, my kids love them

  • You just answered your own question lovely. Make some pasta dishes, noodle dishes. Fruit salads are good, savoury muffins and scones. Dips and biscuits. Last nights dinner leftovers.

  • Perhaps if he was to go shopping with you and point out the healthy/nutritionous food he likes and makes his own lunches may help, or if you have enough garden outside, encouraging him to grow his own (ie tomatoes, radishes, lettuce) may spark something

  • I would try muffins, ricecakes, tuna?
    yoghurt, pizza scrolls

  • Rice cakes, crukits, crackers and cheese with dip? Cold homemade sausage rolls or healthy chicken strips?

  • Healthy muffins, ham cheese and corn are good. Does he like fruit salad?

  • Try cutting fruits and vegies into shapes, you can also get sandwich cutters to make sandwiches more inviting. Give some foods interesting names or ask him to give is own snacks little names , making him part of creating his own lunch,

  • Can you make your own sauce and hide veggies in that? Mix with pasta and win win.
Or maybe look at making your own snack bars.
    Quinoa in lunch maybe?

  • Meat balls veggie sticks, ham and cheese muffins and scrolls.

  • Maybe stir fry noodles, fried rice or yoghurt and fruits.

  • This is a tough one. Boiled eggs.

  • My children are the same :) I find pretzels, popcorn, pancakes, sultana’s, milo bars & tiny teddies are very popular in our house for lunch boxes. If you pack things that kids aren’t going to eat, then your just wasting money because they’ll throw them in the bin.

  • give him some cold nuggets and fruit and yoghurt as well as some cold cuts if he would eat them

  • What about baked beans in a plastic container with a spoon (labelled) my 7 year old daughter loves this, she is the same and does not like bread or bread rolls or wraps??? she is totally different to our 10 year old son who has anything especially sausages on bread with sauce..too easy…Good Luck hope you get there…

  • Crackers and dip or cheese? Vegeful muffins? Veggie smugglers have some fab ideas. I tend to pack a lot of fruit too for energy :)

  • Roast chicken legs are always a favourite with some yoghurt and cheese & crackers and fruit. If you’re looking to ‘hide’ some extra vegetables in his lunchbox, then try making some baked meatballs with grated carrot and zucchini and put them in his lunchbox with a container of sauce (they can be eaten cold).

  • I make my own muesli nars, all natural and I use honey for sweetness.

  • I , ake my own muesli nars, all natural and I use homey for sweetness.
