Hello!

Hi Mums, my daughter has had her first wiggly tooth for a few weeks now with no sign of it falling out. How long did it take for your kids first tooth to fall out? Should I be concerned or is this natural?

  • Usually, it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months for a wiggly tooth to actually fall out. Every child is different, and some might wiggle their teeth for a while before they’re ready to let go.

As long as she’s not in any pain or discomfort, there’s generally no need to worry-it’s perfectly natural! Encourage her to keep wiggling it gently, and remind her that it’ll eventually come out when it’s ready. You might even want to make a fun little countdown or a special event when it does finally fall out.

  • That’s absolutely normal, my children tend to have wobbly teeth for a few weeks sometimes before they come out. Keep as eye on it and and wait, I’m sure it won’t take too long to come out and if you’re really worried pop in to see your dentist. My daughter has what they call shark teeth and gets the new tooth growing while the old one is still in there.

  • This is perfectly normal. Some teeth may just have deeper roots. If you are wanting to speed things along, you could have your daughter eat foods that are a bit harder and if she chews on that side it may help. Things like apples, etc are particularly good. It can also take time for a tooth to grow in after it falls out too. My son was missing his two front ones for the better part of a year!

  • I wouldn’t be too concerned. As time goes by it just gets more wiggly and it’ll be out before you know it

  • This process doesn’t take place on a set timeline. It could be a day or two between the first wiggle and the tooth falling out. Or, it could be weeks before the tooth in question fully dislodges. I remember by my youngest it took several months. Once the tooth falls out, it takes just as much — if not more — time for the new tooth to come in.
