Hello!

I am wanting to start making my own snack foods that I can freeze for school lunches and weekends. Only problem is that they have to be gluten and dairy free. Can anyone suggest some recipes I can use.

  • Of course all breads muffins cakes pies etc freeze well whether they are with or without gluten. Pretty much any snack with gluten you can make without gluten.

  • If you’re already cooking gluten free, I’m guessing you have some gluten free recipes? So freeze them!

  • I agree that the taste site is very good. Some of the recipes that as listed as gluten free are also dairy free. You can substitute and use dairy free milk. If you don’t like the taste if them try the Liddlells Brand. I have been told it tastes the same as cows milk. I am not sure if you can buy it in the refrigerated section or only UHT. Another site you may/may not be able to get gluten free/dairy free is sanitarium – but they promote their own soy milk. Now doubt you can substitute lactose free milk in any gluten free food.
Try typing in gluten free recipes in google. You can substitute milk for lactose free milk. An Aunty of mine also cooks muffins as a slice and freezes it as she lives alone. When thawed you can’t tell the difference. Once when we were visiting she had made a batch a few days before and hadn’t frozen it at all. A lot of other visitors arrived at morning tea time unexpectedly so she took some out of the freezer and let them thaw. That afternoon she wouldn’t tell us which batch each lot was. Neither my Mum or I could tell the difference. A word of warning, some dried apricots are NOT gluten free. My nephew has coelic disease. I bought a packet of dried apricots with the idea of various the taste of a slice. When I checked the packet it is labelled contains Gluten. You probably find that you have to check the ingredients in everything, even in basic foods.

  • google recipes and tons will come up

  • Try substitute ingredients from a normal recipe of possible, I can eat lactose so do that for recipes I use:)

  • I would try going into http://www.taste.com.au they have everything there

  • yonana machines are really good

  • freeze your fruit and then get a Yonana to make some nice desserts

  • Most muffins and loaves freeze well if wrapped properly.

  • can you eat egg? maybe an egg based slice packed with veggies

  • Try this recipe as it can be used as a dip at parties & bbqs, and also it’s good as a snack or light meal with some vegie pieces for dipping. It freezes really well, and would be defrosted ready to eat if you put it frozen in a lunchbox.

  • You can find more gluten free snacks recipe here : allrecipes.com.au

  • Dairy free strawberrie freezes

    Strawberries blended
    Coconut milk
    Vanilla
Other berries or fruits freeze and can use as ice blocks or drinks

  • Search on this site in the recipe section, then search the internet as you want a few to see which one is the best as some can be really dry so you have to trial and error. Cakes are good because you can freeze them ready for lunch box sizes.

  • Magazines such as Recipes + and super food ideas usually have a few gluten free recipes and say whether they are suitable to freeze.

  • I have noticed some on the recipe site as I take notice to pass them on to my cousin

  • goodluck in finding this, there are some cake mixes and such that you could cook and freeze thaqt I know of
