Sorry I missed this! But I think if you had the time, a nice scrapbook of memories would be good for her to look back on all of the years she’s been around.
You could take some home made sweets. If she likes doing puzzles you could get one of the newer ones out now. A magazine subscription could also be a good option depending on her interests.
Perhaps take a nice birthday cake, as not sure where she lives but saying not option on that you can’t take out I would say might be in a nursing home, so the birthday cake would be good to take. Just visiting them would be well enjoyed by her with a nice card. Now with the Covert 19 you might not be able to see her.
If you can’t take her out, bring the meal to get. If it’s a special occasion relive an old favourite time. Personally we do calendars of the great grandkids for Christmas every year and it’s well received.
Try a Hand made card and written letter. Even write a short story or memory together. Gifts are about being personal at this age. And probably fine not to get the gift part if there’s nothing that you can think of. I make the assumption Stuff doesn’t matter so much when you’re older
It would depend what they are into. I think a personally made hamper of their favourite things would be nice or a “voucher” to do something together, perhaps high tea?
I suppose it also depends on where she is living – at home or in a nursing home. A potted plant if she likes gardening; maybe a knee rug for chilly mornings and evenings; a box of her favourite chocolates or sweets. Probably a visit would be appreciated with maybe a delicious afternoon tea organised for her. Company is always appreciated.
