Hello!

Since my 2.4 year has been born I have now noticed a pattern of regular bouts of vomiting. This seems to occur every 4 -6 weeks. It takes her a good week + to get past an episode and really plays a toll on her body. Has anyone else experienced similar? I’ve had to keep a good diary since introducing solids so this is how I know she has these regularly. Looking for information to advise what I should do if anything to find out what is happening to her. TIA

  • I would suggest seeking some medical advice from a professional if this is regularly happening. You child could have an allergy to something that is not often consumed and it is very important to get your child tested while they are young. My daughter has an allergy to eggs and it has gotten worst not better and I am glad I seemed advice when she was young because she would commit too. Good luck Mum member.

  • Keeping a food diary and a health diary for a child is a good idea. It can be incredibly helpful when seeking support from a GP or other health professional. It is always a good idea to seek professional help and support if there are any concerns about eating and any issues with vomiting and health.

  • Maybe your child is allergic to something specific he/she is sometimes eating. I would see a GP and keep an eye on what foods might be causing the vomiting.

  • That does sound unusual. I think it has already been noted below but I would be going straight to my GP, and my maternal child health nurse.

  • Strange that this occurs in a pattern and reoccurs every 4-6 weeks. Personally I would go to the GP (bring your diary as well), who could refer you to see a paediatrician or a gastroentorologist.
Try to observe if the vomiting occurs specific after the consumption of certain foods and try to determine how much your child vomits. You could do some foods or drinks in a container and splash them over the floor to estimate the amount of ml

  • Milk formula and actual milk is only best within 2 hours. Kids lick and eat things they shouldn’t all the time which can cause vomiting.

I’m assuming she’s had something off. Milk, food or something else. I’ve seen my toddler with soil in his finger nails and around his mouth.

Visit a doctor that bulk bills for a chat, tips, blood test and urine test maybe. Good luck!

  • Is there any regular pattern of eating that might triggering the vomitting or eating too much ? Acidity of food? there a lot to take in to account and hard to pin point could also be an allergy?

  • I haven’t experienced this, but want to say you’ve done a great job by keeping a food diary. I would suggest to have a look through the diary and see if you can see any similarities in her diet when she has been sick. Maybe there is an underlying allergy or tummy discomfort she is experiencing. You could also take the diary to your GP and get their opinion and advice.
