  • Here are the few tips tips on introducing a baby to a bottle

Be positive and approach the feed “knowing” baby WILL take it from you. Baby will sense your confidence. If you get stressed or negative it will /can fail.

Remember that baby is not refusing the bottle on purpose.

Sit your baby on your lap and talk to him, “It is time for your bottle. Look how yummy” etc. Keep the positive talk. Stress and negative vibes can be felt by your baby. Take deep cleansing breaths and keep reassuring yourself and your baby.

  • coat the teat with breastmilk and then try it

  • the way i got all three kids onto them was to have a bottle ready to go and when half way through breast feeding to slip the bottle into the side of the mouth and to gently pull the breast out. If the little one is relaxed enough they should keep drinking if its your breast milk and the flow of the bottle is right.( i also found the advent bottles the best) It took a few trys o get them to take it but they did eventually. Or you could also go out for a few hours and leave hubby or a trusted female that has had kids to mind you bubs. The rule is iif they are hungry enough they will drink it. But if they smell the milk on you they will not. It took my kids a while to get use to drinking a bottle if i was giving it( thats the reason why i use to breast feed but swap to the bottle half way once they were relaxed. .

  • I love the advent bottles, my kids really took to them. Try getting someone else to give her the bottle because she knows your smell and thinks that you only feed her that way, she might relax enough to try something different when she isn’t smelling your milk.

  • there are some really good ones like closer to nature that are designed to mimic the feeling when they are breastfeeding. when you are shopping for some have a look out for these ones. it will say on the packaging.

  • if you can try having someone else give her the bottle so that she is not smelling you and wanting your milk – and I also agree with offering it to her first when she is due a feed or hungry because there is more of a chance of her “giving in” and taking the bottle – good luck and dont give up

  • Persistence is the key. Some babies don’t adjust to change well so you just need to keep offering it. Have you tried offering it when she first demands a feed? If she’s hungry, she’s more likely to try it. Good luck, you’ll get there, month stress it too much

  • Persevere and she will get used to it.
