Living in NZ Feijoa trees are very easy to grow here, I just bought some this year as we moved, and planted them and they have a lot of flowers and have only been in the ground three months. This would suggest to me the climate – perhaps too warm? I don’t ever water them. At the most it would get to 28 degrees here. Some varieties need to pollinate with another, so that could also be the problem (it will say on the label), some are self pollinating but do better with another, so you could try that.

I could have written this question, till this year. I live near Mt.Dandenong and I believe I had my tree in about 6-7 years before it fruited. I’m waiting to see if it fruits again this year. I use the fruit for Jam.

When I have problem plants/trees I take pics and go to the local nursery and get tips and advice. Might be helpful?

I’m no expert but I do know that fruiting trees need lots of water to produce fruit – once the fruit is appearing they need heaps to produce nice big fruit too – also if the tree is starved for nutrients it won’t do much – I’d give them some love and attention with fertilizers and regular deep watering and see what happens!

We had one when we lived in Melbourne – for the first 6 years it did nothing and then, the following year, it had an abundance of fruit, after that, nothing again for 5 years. I’m afraid I can’t help as I don’t understand it! I will read all further comments with interest!

I’m in WA and I would say this year my tree didn’t produce as many as last year. However this year Im wondering if I didn’t get as many fruit because the neighbour kindly cut it back… even chopping it it on our side of the fence without asking, so this year was disappointing. Perhaps give it a really decent prune this year and lots of fertiliser and hopefully it will produce lots next year.

I’m feeling ya! I’ve had a dwarf lemon tree growing for about 5 years, no edible fruit as yet. This year I’ve cut it right back. It’ll either thrive or die
