Hi do a search in google of your local heating/cooling businesses and you can call them and they will be able to give you good advice.

Cant help with what heater to get but just a suggestion …use a playpen around the heater so that your children cant get to it if you are concerned that they might burn themselves.

The rinnai sounds really good

Rinnai have a convection heater that blows the air from the bottom and it never gets hot. It is Gas though

my daughter has a noirot panel heater because it is energy efficient but it does sometimes get a little hot to the touch

I hope you find one before It gets too cold, remember electric does cost a lot though

Bunnings and Harvey Norman have great ranges.. Do your research on the power each type of heater uses and work out from there..

do you have Gas or Electric, Gas is cheaper to run and are great for the kids too if you buy one with no flame. you can also preset them to turn on at a certain time of morning so it is warm when you wake up

We had an energy efficiency audit of our house…it was free and provided by the state govt. at the time. Upon their recommendation, we only use bar heaters in rooms where people are because we can close doors to all the rooms – not heating areas that aren’t being used. It was suggested that we don’t heat bedrooms but add more blankets, clothes, electric blankets etc. in these rooms as well as using curtains, carpet/rugs etc. If money isn’t an issue, you could just get a RC air conditioner…

I have heard that the nobo panel heaters are supposed to be good, particularly with small children. They are also fuel efficient, which is helpful.

Reverse cycle might be best. You need to check running costs, as costs can really vary.

I forgot to mention that good fan heaters have a safety cut out switch which works very effectively. You only have to tilt them over ever so lightly and they immediately switch themselves off.

Everybody check your insurance policies!! You will find that oil filled (coil) fin heaters and any damage are not covered by insurance at all.
If you are renting although not excluded in the terms of your lease you better check with your landlord before pruchasing one. They are not cheap to run even with a timer. People I know have a really good one and the only place they use it is in their caravan on holidays.
You can set them on high to warm a room quickly then turn it down (or off for awhile) depending on the size of the area you are heating.The only advantage with them is they are not easily knocked over.
For a small room, depending on how much you ae going to need to use it, fan heaters are quite good. They have 2 fan speeds so you can decide how much heat you need from it. They are ideal for airing off clothes if you only have a few or even more airers in a room if you don’t have or don’t want to use an electric clothes dryer.

we have just bought a Dyson hot+cool from a recommendation from a friend and it is great!!

We’ve been through a lot of heating options since buying this place.
1. Ditched our open fires and wood heater, wood isn’t cheap and what a mess.
2. Bought a Nobo to try in one of the rooms – not for us.
3. Reverse cycle air is great for our family room / kitchen
4. We use oil column heaters in our other rooms, they can be expensive to run if you don’t use them correctly – turn them on to full heat to get the room warm then turn them down just to take the chill out of the air. They are quite warm to touch if you have little ones though.

I’m going to look into those eco heaters, heard a lot of good things about them, low on electricity, wall mounted.
