Hello!

My daughter refuses to try meat, chicken or fish, have tried on so many occasions. Looking for suggestions on ways that she might find interesting enough to try, or at least take a bite or two of. Thanks

  • My daughter is like that. She’s slowly getting better but it’s still hard

  • Can you shred it and mix it with things she does like?

  • Is it possibly the texture? My son refused to eat meat for ages but would eat sausages or anything mince based. Try meals using mince. She will most likely grow out of it as she gets older. My son is getting better.

  • You need to make it interesting for her try the toddler recipes on this site my kids love

  • I’m a vegetarian and some of my kids have never eaten meat, fish or chicken. I give plenty of beans, lentils, eggs, tempeh, tofu and other meat substitutes.

  • mc donalds lol maybe taco’s, or buffet style? lasagna

  • Let her choose the type of meat at the supermarket and then make it fun by letting her help you cook. If you are able to buy a cheap kids apron set from spotlight so she feels like she’s getting involved and that way she might be interested in actually eating the food she’s helped cook. If that doesn’t work cut the meat up into tiny pieces and hide it in her food.

  • Hide it anywhere possible, make it into fun shapes? Add food colour? :)

  • Mix it in with something that doesnt look like meat and try that also dont make a big deal out of it. And if she is old enough bribery is great 1 tiny peice of meat for a whole chocolate

  • hide it. maybe try and make it fun. don’t stress, if she is eating lots of other good food then that’s all that matters. she will come round I’m sure.

  • try putting it in casseroles, spag bol or similar type meals where you can cut the meat up small. let her eat it and then tell her what was in it.

  • My daughter goes through stages of not eating certain foods

  • My daughter went through a period like that. I ended up dicing up some chicken breast and mushrooms really finely, cooking it in butter and season all salt and she couldn’t get enough of it. We’re still figuring out how to get some red meat into her but she loves her chicken now :)

  • You could also try Cheese and Apple Quesadillas, which are easy to make, and your daughter could help you make them. You can try them with a variety of fillings, and they’re also suitable for grown-ups. I always keep a packet of Tortillas in the pantry, and some cheese in the fridge, so if I’m caught short, I can whip these up in a few minutes.

  • Try this recipe that I put on this page. The pasties are delicious, hot or cold, and the tuna isn’t overpowering. Good luck!

  • Don’t make an issue of the food you want her to try. Too much pressure is off-putting. Just keep offering and accept when she doesn’t try…eventually she will especially if she sees others eating the food.

  • I wouldn’t force her, if she eats her vegies then that is all that matters. she may not like chewing meat. maybe cut it into tiny little pieces

  • My daughter has always been a fussy eater we didn’t try to “hide” it as such but made lots of stews and rissoles with vegetables and meat.

I found that if I gave her some of mine she was more willing to try something than if it was offf her plate. She went about 6 months without eating vegetables but recently she has started again we make it fun like “who can beat mum/dad/nan/pop sister with a pea race?”

  • making them into mince first?

  • try puting meat in her potato or make a chicken soup up
