  • I stopped jsut over a month ago. So i was doing bfing only before naps (when im at home) and before bedtime. And then I stopped doing it before naps. Then not long after that I stopped it before bed as well. I think the night I stopped he was a bit confused and was kinda looking for it but he didn’t fuss to much.

  • I see this is a question from a year ago. How did you go ? I always found kellymom.com a very helpful source of information and advise.

  • Gradually substitute a bottle for breast feeds. It took me only a couple of weeks.

  • With my two girls, I had to go away for a girls weekend away to ween them off. Just have to go cold turkey! They were co-sleeping with me and so dependent on the boob to sleep, by 2 years I thought it was time and the best way. Painful for me for a day or two as I had to hand pump excess build up, but the boobs got use to it.

  • Wean off slowly I guess. Or just put something that taste yuck over them so she won’t want it

  • I was lucky or not lucky depending on how you look at it, I just ran out and my son cried for two weeks. But try giving a rice milk in a sippy cup with a little snack while they you read a story, and hopefully will wean naturally.

  • Have only had to force one child off my breast as the others either gave it up, did not mind changing or one I had to stop at 6 months as he was not getting anything out of it (was feeding him before seeing child nurse to look like he was putting on weight). The one I forced off was due to him biting me and drawing blood that was flowing out his mouth. Thirteen months old and that was it. He was offered the sippy cup and nothing else to drink from, it was hard as he kept coming back asking for milk and not liking the cup idea. It took about a week and he realised it was the cup or nothing.

  • I used raising children.com for my advice. Can’t recall it off the top of my head now tho sorry it’s been too long haha

  • Its too early

  • The panic and tears only get reinforced if you give in.
Offer a cup of milk instead. It’s the cup or nothing.
Same when you wean them off the bottle. As soon as mine turned one, that was it. No longer an option.

If it’s not an option at all, they learn to get over it. Will they get upset in the meantime? Yes.
Is it okay for them to get upset? Yes! Every emotion is important. And this will be a good learning moment for the both of you. Sit with the discomfort.
