  • No, as much as I kind of like the idea of a surprise I never could wait lol. I also like to be prepared and I just found it easier knowing what we were having.

  • Yes, we wanted it to be a surprise, and it was! Many people guessed I was carrying a boy and so my husband and I started to think along those lines. When our daughter was born, it was a beautiful, pleasant surprise.

  • It’s lovely to read the different perspectives and opinions

  • We decided we wanted to know – in order to choose names, mostly.

  • Not me. I foind out as soon as I could!

  • I found out all 3 times. Its still a suprise and it helps with picking names which we struggled with. No regrets.

  • I was one of them, I never even went for ultrasound, had not reason, was feeling great and nothing to worry about, I just went with the flow of nature and just waited, it is so fantastic to get the surprise when you first give birth.

  • I can understand and have experienced both sides. It was nice to have it come a surprise and it was also nice to find it out during pregnancy, we didn’t share it with other people though.

  • Yes, I was keen for gender to be a surprise. I just wanted a healthy baby.

  • I wanted it to be a surprise.

  • I’m a control freak so just had to know haha

  • I always wanted the sex of both of my babies to be a surprise. There is something special and surprising about giving birth and finding out if it is a boy or a girl when they arrive into the world. Also I find naming the baby easier once you can actually look at them. As a friend of many people that have found out – I find the actual birth of babies where their sex is known is a bit of a anti-climax – like wow – what did she have – oh that’s right a baby boy – what did they call him – oh that’s right they already had a name chosen – no excitement what so ever . Having said that – each to their own.

  • I’ve had both of my kids a surprise only because I think we are blessed when they are healthy . I have seen mums who does know and it does make planning easier such as buying appropriate clothing or asking for suitable presents in advance etc.. But then I heard ultrasounds can be wrong ….

  • The surprise makes the effort of labour and birth worthwhile.

  • I wanted to know so I could plan and prepare in advance!

  • Always a surprise – makes the moment extra special.

  • Absolute surprise. We figure you can’t change what your going to get. Seeing my man call out the sex and near run round the room soccer style was so wonderful it’s one of the most wonderful moments so all were a surprise.

  • Not me! I really wanted to know. My husband too. And then we told people that we were going to have a girl. While we kept her name secret till birth.

  • I wanted it to be a surprise, and it was! Everyone kept telling me they thought I’d have a boy and I just about convinced myself it would be a boy, but surprise, surprise, it was a beautiful girl.
