Hello!

My dog just died from cancer. How can I remember him?

  • I have a photo album full of memories. I have a couple of canvases. I had made a couple of ornament type things. My daughter has a tattoo of their paw prints and a lovely wooden box with their ashes. There are so many options out there, it’s really up to you to decide which one suits

  • I’m so sorry. When my MIL lost her dog, we got her a necklace with his photo in a pendant. She still wears it every day.

  • In your head, he’ll always be there. We have lots of photos, some framed and hanging on the walls. We buried him in his favourite spot in the backyard, put solar lights around it. I will definitely cremate any future dogs tho, then they can come with me if I have to move

  • I selected the best photo of him and got it put on a canvas to hang next to the family photos

  • I lost my beloved soul mate cat, I got him cremated, have his ashes in a beautiful box with engraving on it. I also sit outside each day with a coffee (as we often went out there) on a garden seat I had delivered, and that also has his name engraved on it with the year, it is a garden bench seat. I love that time out there and enjoy thinking about him, knowing he is near me.

  • I lost my cat today. I’ve ordered an urn, a couple ornaments, photo in a frame and a candle. You can choose so many different things to have in a little memorial.

  • A little plaque in a special plant pot in the garden. Near the doorway so you always see it. Maybe a garden ornament of the same breed of dog.

  • Put his ashes in a cricket ball!

  • A portrait is always special too and can be framed.

  • My dog dog about 10 years ago and I had him cremated and out into a beautiful urn. He sits on top of the fridge as he loved food so much he use to take naps in front of it.

  • I had my little Tessie cremated and have her ashes and fur in a special box with a photo and name plate on it. It is on my bookshelf so I can always look at it. Her favourite toy sits on top of the box.

  • Collect items from your dog (for example lease, favourite toys / items, photo’s) and make a memory stand/cupboard/shelve
Organise a meeting with your family wherein you share positive experiences about your dog, something like a memory service
I agree that burying him in your garden can be an option too.

  • Sorry for your loss.
Plant a special rose or plant in the garden.
Buy a special plaque or statue for the garden.
There are some lovely ways to remember loved family pets.

  • Bury him in the garden and plant flowers on top of his grave. I just did this with my pet.
