My daughter just wanted to go shopping and eat something with her besties followed by a sleepover

For my 21st we set up the shed with party/disco lights and fairy string lights and danced to music. We also had a black UV light which made anything light coloured glow. You can get them on Ebay, so people wearing white shirts or shoes really stood out. It was lots of fun! We had a bbq . Like in the photo

We hired a photo booth, it was expensive but we didn’t need any other entertainment or much in the way of decorations. The kids loved it – so did the adults.

Depends on sex of child, but if a girl, a pamper party is always good. Doesn’t have to cost the earth. Get some tubs and bath salts for a foot spa and they can paint each others nails. Do go that little bit further you could hire a masseuse to do neck and shoulder massages….just 5-10 minutes each so you don’t have to hire one for too long.

Im thinking of taking my daughter to Melbourne with her best friend who will be 16 and they can go shopping and we go to a nice restaurant. Make them feel special.

You really dont have to spend lots of money or anything. 16 year olds are not adults and still love having fun. What about hiring a jumping castle and a sumo ring and inflatable outfits. They will have a ball!

It depends if the party is a mix of girls and boys or boys only or girls only. Childhood party games are popular have a dress up box and have the guests entertain with improv skits, it can be so much fun. This age group need little encouragement to slip back,to childhood fun games. Have blindfolds and the blindfolded has to go along the rest and feel the faces and try to name who they are “reading” A fortune teller can provide a ton of fun with predictions, it will be more fun if the fortune teller is unknown to the guests. Food is easy with this age group, Pizza and ice cream. Mock tails.,or have a formal dinner party have some friends help as servers, you can do this with a theme or play the Murder Game. Quiz games are fun,

Totally depends on the child and whether make or female, but a friend recently did a high tea party for her daughter’s 18th birthday. They had fancy table settings finger food, tea cups etc made it really old world. Look fantastictamd went down a hit with the girls.

my 16th was fun, had a game where had to put on snow gloves and beanie and scarf and had one try to cut a piece f chocolate of a block, if you got a bit off you got to eat it. also played the peg game, person who could stand the most amount of pegs attatched to their face one, also had sleepover, played singstar, watched movies etc.

Hollywood themes would be a great idea witha red carpet.

My friend did a nite club style party for her daughter. She made the house dark and hired a disco ball. They had lots of music and served up mock tails for the young guests. They made their own fun, danced and chatted. A few stayed for a sleep over after but most went home. It was talked about for weeks.

Old fashioned party games are surprisingly a hit! Play pin the tail on the donkey. That always gets a few laughs and it is good fun without it being too complicated. Another one for 16 year olds is spin the bottle!

DIY photo selfie booth. you can make all the accessories yourself like lips, glasses and moustaches, there are heaps of online templates available. I guarantee each guest will have a phone with camera and this will get them laughing and having fun. you can pick up a selfie stick and provide another digital or instant camera for other guests. I hung a plastic table cloth (also very cheap) as a back drop. Used a couple picture frames that I had spray painted black and white as props. there are apps and online gallery options that everyone can upload them too. And make sure everyone has a pic done as they arrive and one with the guest of honour. Its a great idea for girls. With all the pics you can create a memory photo book too for the birthday girl.

Depending on the number attending and how responsible they are you could have a sleepover at the conclusion. It also depends on the time of year and their interests. At 16y.o. they are still at school so probably a Sat. party is the best option. For the majority of parents/ carers there is no work the next day. It can be a day or night party depending on which is the most practical. If it is to be outdoors I think a good idea to warn the neighbours and take on board any concerns they have. If having music turn the volume down by midnight. Nothing is worse than being kept awake because of music coming from several houses away or worse still a few streets away and all you can hear of it is the beat within it. Our neighbours traced one to 4 streets away on one occasion. We shut all our windows tight, turned our TV up loud and could hear it. We didn’t bother to go looking for it. Somebody nearby must have called the Police as it suddenly went quiet at about 3.00am. What made it more annoying was it was a Friday night and a lot of people in our area work Saturdays. Some of them must have gone to work looking rather tired unless they are very heavy sleepers.

What about a beach themed party,or hawian, have a slip and slid , games umm may be limbo , my kids are all under 10 so it’s still easy to plan a party, good luck with your party
