What did you end up doing for Halloween? Would be interested for next Halloween – can’t believe I’m thinking about that already!!

Nope! As I see it, Halloween is yet another useless Americanism invading Australia. Why can’t we think up our own, Aussie themed celebration?

We didn’t host a party but did have trick or treaters, always so wonderful seeing the kids dressed up!
If we were to host a party That’s Life & Take 5 magazine had some amazing recipes.

Get the treat or trix mix pack from Aldi, they are on special.

For my daughter’s afterschool care they did monster jelly. Made the jelly and put eye ball lollies in them.

We are having a kids party… not many kids… however there will be someone there that is allergic to egg, dairy and nuts. So we will be making jack o lantern fruit cups… jelly cups with snakes at the bottom. Mini cupcakes (dairy & egg free) decorated like eye balls. Then of course your normal sausage rolls… skinless frankfurts with a small thin layer wedge of pickled onion on one end (witches fingers)… mixture of sandwiches cut in moon, pumpkin, bat, headstone shapes. Hope this helps.

Kind of depends whether you’re catering for kids or adults! If adults, I’d probably just think of some spooky names for the food.

We’re not doing one this year but only because one of our friends is holding one. Candy apples are a great treat for Halloween parties, you can get sticks from your yard to put the apples on to make them look a bit more rustic/creepy.
There are always Mummy-dogs, which are mini hot dogs or little boys with thin strips of pastry wrapped around them to look like mummies.
A nice simple thing too is you can get Halloween cookie cutters to make ‘spooky’ cookies, sandwiches, cheese slices, etc.
Martha Stewart does some great food that isn’t too hard to put together and looks amazing.
