Hello!

I have bad hands and cutting up veggies for dinner can leave me in tears. I’m looking for recomendationd on a good quality but not costly veggie slicer that chops, slices, greats, and isn’t too hard to clean.

  • I personally think the best thing you can get is a mandolin, they’re very sharp so they don’t require a lot of effort. You can actually get fantastic ones, for cheap, at most Asian grocery stores. They’ll stay sharp for a long time and they’re super easy to clean.

  • My hands are becoming increasingly more painful with arthritis. Im going to read thru the comments to see if there’s anything that might help me

  • We got the Aldi one too and it works great

  • I bought one at Aldi a while back, inexpensive and works a treat! Would definitely recommend.

  • Kleva sumo slicer. You can buy on eBay for around $40. Or try a food processor, I do find with food processors that their kids are hard to attach and detach.

  • So sorry to hear that. I’d definitely get something electric for less manual labour

  • Would go for something electric if you have bad hands. I find the manual cutters still require a bit of force and my mother who has arthritis has tried lots of different ones and never had any success until she got herself an electric one.

  • I broke my Trapezoid bone in my dominant hand about 8 years ago, my hand swells up every Winter so I also struggle cutting vegetable and holding saucepans. I bought one of the cheap slicers and dicers from Kmart a few years ago, they have similar ones now for $19. If it does what you need it to do I recommend it, otherwise you can buy vegetable dicers from the cheap shops.

  • We have a mandolin slicer that does a good job, and with different blades can do different chops

  • The Ortega kitchen slicer is the best

  • We have a braun stick blender which includes a chopper and food processor as well quite worth it under 200 bucks

  • Matt Blatt, Dick Smith, My Deal, Everton (to name a few), all have good kitchen slicers.

  • I agree with the electric slicer from Kmart.
I wouldn’t suggest a mandoline if you have bad hands, if you’re not careful you can cut yourself on one of those.

  • Kleva Slicer is good

  • Kmart have a small electric one that has different blades to put in it to do different vegetables and would help you out a lot.

  • Aldi had a great V-slicer a while ago, watch out for their special buys, great tool in the kitchen.

  • I have a food processor that has different blades, I think it’s breville. There would be lots of online sales at the moment with covid so hopefully you find something that suits .

  • I think there is one at Kmart or buy muktimixer which has that option

  • I use the V-slicer. I got gifted it over 12 years ago and find it really simple and easy to both use and clean. It wasn’t overly expensive and there are cheaper versions out there but as mentioned I’ve had mine for more than 12 years so worth the money.
Stores easily and isn’t too bulky

  • A blender with different cutting blades could be helpful?
