Hello!

My littlest one loves her milk and has a bottle at bedtime when we read her book. A few times the milk has leaked onto her fitted sheet and despite washing them in Napisan a greasy stain remains. Almost all of my bedsheets have these stains and are almost brand new, any advice on how I can save them and remove these marks would be greatly appreciated.

  • I’m guessing this is formula as that can be high in fat and cause milk stains. I would soak in nappy nap and then wash and put in sun for a bit. Try bleaching them if they are completely white. I tend to buy all white so I can just bleach any stains.

  • What! I had no idea that milk could stain. Maybe you could try a strip wash?

  • It’s unusual that milk would stain, but sometimes boiling water helps get rid of a great many things. Omo Ultimate is also my go to for stain removal. But perhaps a change of routine is needed. It is not very healthy to be having the milk while going to sleep like that or just before bed. Perhaps look at providing the milk earlier before bed and not in the bed.

  • Dishwashing liquid is my go to with greasy stains.

  • that’s a great tip mom101628 ! I never heard of Matress Stain Remover, but will look out for it !

  • I rub dish detergent on the stain, scrub with your hands and a little warm water. Might need repeating but generally works

  • Try Mattress Stain Remover – it removes almost all stains especially blood which is also greasy. I find it works for me.

  • I never realised that milk could give such aggressive stins till I discovered my daughter spilled her milk on the carseat cover. I was quite shocked

  • Soak them in a napisan solution.

  • Possibly oxygen bleach?

  • When your bedsheets have a light colour you could also try hydrogen peroxide

  • The quicker you can remove such stains the better (with other words the longer they sit, the harder it is to remove them).
My first go to is always is dampen a stain with the hottest water you can tolerate and some pure washing up liquid and start working the stain. I then make a paste of bakingsoda and vinegar, apply on the stains and leave it sit for a while. After rinsing with hot water see what’s left a scrub with Sunlight blocksoap if needed. Rinse the soap off with hot water and repeat when needed

  • Applying a proven stain remover and soaking always works for us when removing stubborn stains.

  • I can relate to this so much! My littlest one also loves her milk at bedtime, and we’ve had the same issue with stains on the sheets. One trick that has worked for me is to pre-treat the stains with a mixture of baking soda and dish soap. Apply it directly to the stain, let it sit for about 15-20 minutes, and then wash as usual. You might also want to try adding a bit of white vinegar to the wash to help break down the grease. I hope this helps save your sheets!

  • Try rubbing with Sunlight laundry soap – I’ve found it good on stubborn stains.

  • I was going to suggest the same as the post below, try a product that is heavy duty that would remove pet stains or perhaps try taking it to a dry cleaners?

  • You might have luck with products marketed for pet pee removal. It should break down the milk proteins. Dampen the stain, spray, blot away, repeat.
