Hello!

My three week old baby has terrible nappy rash. We have already changed nappy brands three times (Dimples, Babylove and Huggies) but it does not help. We are giving nappy free time and using Sudocream but although it is not getting worse, it is not getting better. Can anyone suggest natural remedies for this? I have heard Coconut Oil is very good but it is expensive.

  • Get some cloth or towelling nappies and use egg white on babies skin it puts a film on the skin make sure you wash the nappies in lux you can soak them if soiled in Nappy San and rinse though before washing, as you have to make sure the skin has nothing on it that burns like urine or poo and don’t leave in wet nappies.

  • I find my daughter gets nappy rash from disposables so we use full time cloth nappies with a good wash routine and never have an issue

  • I had a lot of J&J baby powder as gifts and as soon as I sprinkled some on when I changed their nappies the rash disappeared within a few days . Also Am-o Lin baby cream is good too as I was brought up on this cream . I think with the powder is kept their bottoms dry so , that might be the secret on preventing rashes , unless it is something else altogether .

  • I thought my son had nappy rash. I did all the recommended cure remedies for it. Ended up being thrush. I suggest a Dr or chemist check it out if it’s not clearing, just in case

  • Nappy goo from the royal children’s hospital is by far the best, just google it

  • I found and barrier cream locks moisture in and out so if baby isnt completely dry before putting the cream on, it becomes worse and it keeps the area wet. Really bad nappy rash can be treated with canestan – a fungal cream also used to treat thrush. Pharmacist suggested it and adv us not to use it for more than 3 days. Worked for us

  • how about trying different brand of nappy cream? I find that it helps with my little one when she had nappy rash and we tried everything too. Used Sebamed diaper cream and it worked much better.

  • use a Nutri rich oil to cover the bottom it will clear up quick

  • Cornflour is absolutely great for nappy rash

  • coconut oil from the supermarket is cheap. it’s only about $8 and because it’s oily you don’t need to use a lot each time and it comes in a large jar.

  • I used Bepanthan. It’s not natural but it worked for my kids.

  • Just keep having nappy free time, fresh air is the best thing for it.

  • at 3 weeks it may be a little bit of thrush from your hormones and not nappy rash, ask your chemist or dr to take a look

  • Make sure you use a good barrier cream. Mustela is a good brand that worked well for my little one.

  • there are some good comments here

  • did you end up finding something that works?

  • sudo cream works so well….

  • Try Benpathen you can get this from the chemist … you put it on and you will still be able to put nappies on as this cream protects the skin

  • Sometimes if a baby has dairy sensitivity it can come out as nappy rash too. We found it to be the case with our little one. She is breasted and I did an elimination diet when she had colic, I stared to notice that the nappy rash would clear up. After a while it was pinned down to me eating dairy. We talked to her pead about it and he said its actually common. Coconut all is also very good at healing wounds and has very good natural anti bacterial and anti fungal properties in it

  • Coconut oil is great & not that expensive. It has many uses including great for cradle cap. I picked up a jar of organic coconut oil for under $10 from health food store :)
