Hello!

I want to make healthy natural food at home but am finding her turning up her nose at a lot of it. Will eat orange veg, especially if I put apple in it and enjoys eating fruits as finger food. Would like to encourage more veg and meat especially green veg in a way that she’ll enjoy. Will eat farex mixed with fruit but no other grain foods so far. Thank you

  • we did soft boiled egg and broccolli stalks, cauliflower stalks, brussels sprouts, carrots, all soft boiled and cooled down of course

  • Try to reduce or remove the sweet for a bit and give savoury veg. Then add it back in. My DD turns her nose up and most stuff too it’s also perseverance as its all new!

  • Yes banana and avacodo, weetbix! Good ideas! Really interesting the comments read to this!

  • Your little girl sounds just like my little girl! It’s hard work and she’s 20 months now and still isn’t a great fan of meat or veggies.

Frittatas, veggie slices, pancakes etc are what I give my daughter. I also make up veggie muffins – they’re so great when you’re out and about. I just googled recipes and browsed the internet to find those muffin recipes that worked for her. I make up big batches and freeze them.

  • banana and avacodo, weetbix
    zucchini and mash

  • Read “Wholefood for children” by Jude Blereau. A real inspiration.

  • I’d stop using fruit for a few weeks and focus on veg and cereals. Bub has picked up on the sweet taste and clearly likes it. Reintroduce it very slowly after veg is being eaten for a while.

  • Just keep trying things, and dont stress no child ever starved when there was food around

  • there are some good comments here

  • try making it fun for her

  • wait a litlle longer then introduce again

  • six months is a difficult time and bubs often don’t have a huge variety of foods… some good ideas in the recipes section though (yep, I love the recipes section – so much in there!)

  • you just have to keep trying, their tastes keep on changing and some foods they love, they stop having. My son loved homemade pumpkin soup and watermelon. Don’t worry if it is only a few foods as long as they are eating and drinking enough.

  • My munchkin will try almost anything if she can feed it to herself. Grate up some veggies and let the fun begin. I also found my bub loved avocado,so thats her toast topping, and you can mash it through with other stuff she does like. Just keep offering foods, she may warm to them!

  • I added brussel sprouts and broccoli in her mash then sweeten up with blueberries and corn. She loves it :)

  • How are you tracking with this? my daughter started off very eager to try any foods I gave her and has now slowed to one or two mouthfuls and then takes no more, its very frustrating. Some days she appears to like a food and the next wants none of it, which is difficult when you are trying to do the right thing by lovingly preparing home made baby food! We found an organic baby porridge that went down quite well for a few weeks (Shes since gone off it) so I just keep trying and have found in the end she just has a little of what we are having.

  • This is a very hard one

  • how did you go? :)

  • You can find more recipe at kidspot. com.au Lots of healthy recipe in there.

  • i hope you’ve had success
