Boxes are the best in my experience.

I’ve only every used cardboard boxes and storage tubs and never had an issue with them. We are moving towards the end of the year and I’ve already started getting boxes

Suitcases, boxes etc.

a lot of removal companies sell 2nd hand removals boxes which are sturdy and strong.

We used cardboard boxes, suitcase and plastic tubs. The plastic tubs we used were fantastic, they’re the heavy duty ones from bunnings. Black with yellow lids. And now we use them for storage (kids toys, Xmas decorations, car parts,etc)

Use whatever you have. Suitcase, dunna covers for clothes, pillows ect. Cardboard boxes

When we moved last year we ordered some good quality boxes but I still also had quite a good amount stored from previous moves. Some even date back from when I moved from the Netherlands to Northern Ireland 19years ago !! Beside that I kept good nappy boxes and boxes from online orders. It’s also handy to ask for boxes at supermarket and shops like Bunnings

check our facebook market place or gumtree lots of people list moving boxes for free. We move quiet regularly that those boxes are the only things we use when we move, as a defence family since 1995 I have had minimal losses/breakages from using moving boxes.

I do recommend though if you can flat pack your original boxes for tv’s etc and keep the inserts it helps for those higher price items. We uses towels, clothes, sheets,doonas, stuffed toys, cushions and pillows to cushion things inside the boxes to make them more secure when moving also.

Get quality boxes from a storage center. They are definitely worth the money. Some places even sell pre loved boxes and will buy them back when you are finished

I’ve moved several times and yes I think the better quality cardboard boxes are the best

when i was moving, i used boxes from coles and woolies and even the nappy boxes – they’re amazing.

We just used cardboard box’s it was all we could do

Our plastic tub lids all cracked too. I found cardboard boxes the most reliable. Or I kept a lot of items inside the drawers where possible and just lifted them and moved them if they weren’t too heavy.

We used a combination of all the above. Boxes we found was great for kitchen things and items that you know you will need to access straight away. I used the stripy bags for linen, some clothes and had no issues with colour (although we borrowed ones from friends so maybe that had worn off!) and tubs for other stuff. That was great as you can safely sort it until you ever need it.

We used suction bags bought from the reject shop where you put all your blankets and linen and jumpers in and suck out the air using your vacuum. I tied them in bundles using string. No need for boxes. Clothing I did the same. Boxes are very handy packing items well saves breakages. I love the striped bags I suggest wrapping all your stuff in Black Plastic garbage bags. I also used these big Garbage bags to pop around my dresses , tied the ends and left my cloths bundled together on coat hangers. the removalist had a special clothes hanger box to hang them in.

I agree with momnealsq – using linen to wrap items is a good way of protecting particular items and saving on bubble wrap.

Moving house is a nightmare! We found cardboard boxes were the best for most items. We bought a sturdy shipping box for our fragile/expensive glass and china, and plastic tubs for electrical items. We stored our furniture and contents for 6 weeks and then had then transported Interstate with no ‘accidents’ at all. (I wouldn’t recommend storage bags as they don’t withstand the storage/trip, breaking up and damaging the contents!).

I found when you pack linen pack in a space bag with dryer sheets it’s smell fresh and like it’s just washed smell lasts for about 6 months like this. Other things I use bubble wrap and place in tubs or packing boxes.

Cardboard boxes are probably the most practical.

The vacuum seal bags are probably best if you plant to store some items for any length of time, they can be costly though. I’ve moved in the past and only ever used cardboard boxes, but I’ve never stored my things, so I’m unsure if boxes are ok or not for long term
