When my kids used to get lots of their friends to sleepover I found that Bubble & squeak, hash browns, a corn on the cob and a sausage roll was generally received well. Also small vegetable pies or vegetable muffins were often well received. And I agree most kids love lasagna, pasta and pizza
Firstly what will they eat ?
Get them involved in preparing the food.
A lazy sue is always fun with a selection of foods they can spin and help themselves to what they want to try .
I also had a fun place mat to distract them and make meal time a fun time.
Don’t have any junk food in the house like chips lollies etc only fruit veggies bread cheese etc. Especially like my kids would go for unhealthy snacks I then stopped buying them and they started eating healthier out of mind out of sight .
My kids Love those packet pastas. They’re not super healthy on their own but ok for an occasional meal or you can just add some cooked chicken and steamed vege etc..
They also love bolognaise ( which I hide lots of vege in) I make extra and then use the left overs as a pasta bake or on baked potatos etc and the other winner in my house is tuna pasta bake which is just some tuna, pasta a jar of sauce and some cheese and in the oven…
pasta, pasta, pasta
Nearly all kids love pasta and it is cheap and versatile. spaghetti, pasta bake, mac n cheese, pesto chicken, cannelloni, lasange the list is never ending and leftovers alwase freeze well
I always find an omelette works. Whether is full of chopped up vegetables, a protein and some cheese, it’s always a crowd pleaser in my family, nutritious and quick.
When my little miss is being fuzzy her go to is a toasted cheese sandwich. Quick and easy and she always devours it. Sometimes I also just put together a little grazing plate with like cherry tomatoes, cucumber/carrot sticks, cheese cubes, pretzels ect whatever we have on hand and she can pick and choose. She likes it if there’s something to dip into like sauce or aioli or a dip like guacamole.
The struggle is definitely real! Macaroni and cheese, lasagna, ravioli, bangers and mash, fish tacos, burritos, meat pies, quiche, American BBQ (ribs, corn & coleslaw!)
I have one fussy eater who visits. One definite winner is scrambled eggs. At the same time one of the others only likes fried eggs. Occasionally the request is weetbix or a sandwich. Then there is a decision to decide what goes in it.
My child is the ultimate in fussy eaters. It’s sounds awful, but on nights we’re all exhausted she’s happy with a bowl of cereal for dinner, or yoghurt and tinned fruit. Even toast or a sausage and oven chips is enough just to fill her tummy on those nights.
My go to quick meals are usually omelettes, toasted sandwiches or sausages and mash/veg. Omelettes are great tasting and can hide lots of Vegetables while also providing some good fats and protein. Toasted sandwiches are easy and usually a hit with fussy children and sausages with mash are quick and tasty.
