Hello!

My one year old has a size 4 head, but 0 legs. Any advice on getting unusually sized baby or kids clothing?

  • I would just buy at places that do separate clothing like best and less.

  • I’d suggest you dress them in separates – then you can just buy ordinary clothes but in different sizes.

  • I think it would become expensive really quickly if you had to pay someone to tailor all your baby clothes. Do you know how to sew? If you do, you could buy the larger size clothes for the top, and bring the sides in. Alternatively you may have to tuck their top into their pants to help make it less baggy.
    Hope you find a solution.

  • Get the clothes that have the buttons on the shirts so they can fit larger heads.

  • Just buy separates where you can – this will largely solve the problem. If you can’t – or it’s something like a body suit – go for the bigger size. S/he’s a baby, it doesn’t matter a lot yet.

  • My girls had big heads. We found items with zippers or buttons to work best.
If it’s their top half, let them west what’s comfortable. Most of us have different shirt/pant sizes ????

  • Separate sizes! Kmart is a great place to mix and match

  • Definitely go with separates!

  • Separate tops and bottoms or zip up suits were what I used to buy.

  • I don’t understand the issue…could you not buy separate hats and pants?

  • Can you sew. Most patterns have the ability adjust to suit

  • You may have to purchase tops and bottoms separately.

  • Definitely zip up or shirt styles.

  • I would avoided clothing that requires you to put over the head. Maybe try for onesies or shirts. Good luck mumma

  • Target and best and less often have button/zip up shirts that may work.

  • Maybe just avoid clothing that goes over the head. There are many items available with front openings. The other option would be to find someone who does alterations and may be able to put openings in the back of the tops, like a slit down the back with closures. Good luck. :)

  • Thanks for the advice! I dont think l made myself clear – his trunk and legs are a 0, but nothing fits over his head.
Would any other disability mums have ideas on where to buy unusually sized clothes? Or those snap close shirts.

  • Yes, I would go for separate tops & bottoms too.

  • Maybe purchase separate items, we often purchase different sizes to fit different parts of bodies.

  • Buy individual clothing. Get tops in size 4 and bottoms in size zero.
My 9 year old has the waist size 6 but leg length is a size 9-10. Some times you just need to make alterations
