Hello!

What is an appropriate amount to spend on a teacher gift? This is my daughter’s first year at school and has two EA’s plus the teacher. I would love to hear how much you spend on gifts and some cheap but amazing gift ideas.

  • I try to limit the amount to $15 as they have so many teachers. We usually pick their favourites. Something hand made is a lovely option or find some bulk presents on Amazon. Lots of personalised things you can order for fairly cheap. A mug and a nice pen. Personalised water bottle. Chocolates.

  • We’ve spent around $25 in the past. This year I have 7 teachers to buy for (which includes aides), so am thinking $10 each.

  • I try to keep it around $10

  • I would love to gift a personalised item such as coffee mug/blanket. If your daughter know what the teacher likes buy and make it personalised. I would be spending anything between $25-$50 or below $100 for this.

  • I wouldn’t spend more than $10. It’s a nice token gesture to say thanks. Most teachers actually don’t like a lot of gifts as they can get heaps of mugs, candles, chocolates etc.

  • I gifted and created a lot of small gifts last year. I have small handmade business and my angels and other Christmas ornaments were very popular last year. Simple but unique gifts . If you would like to see some please look at my Facebook page Under Her Wings macrame by Justyna

  • I’d keep it cheap, just a token gift under $10. My go to is a cheap little pot from The Reject shop and plant a cutting in it in Spring so it is grown by Xmas.

  • If any money is spent keep it to a small amount and set a minimum budget.

  • A small card with a personalised message from the child is plenty. Teachers often get overloaded with gifts at Christmas time.

  • My daughter has multiple teacher aides and her teacher and last year I bought for each a cute plant in a nice pot and made a card with a photo from my child saying “help you for helping x (insert child’s name) grow”, wrapped with a beautiful ribbon and a nice gift bag
