Hello!

Does anyone suffer from plantar fasciitis? I have recently been getting a lot of foot pain and believe I have this as I have had it in the past. Does anyone have any tips or things they have used that have worked? Social media offers a variety of options but I am not sure how good any of these actually are. I know I should go see a foot specialist about it but I just can’t seem to get an appointment for a time that I can make work so thought I would see if I can sort this out myself.

  • Yep,I hear your pain and am having that too ATM so I am putting gel insoles in my everyday shoes and runners.I also do my feet exercises and I just use YouTube for this.Alk this seems to help and it will heal over time like 6-12months and reduce extreme exercise is the key????Hope this was helpful

  • I originally taped my feet, from one side of the foot to the other on an angle tightly. Repeat in the other direction. I have since bought some special thongs – they have sandals as well – that have made the necessity to no longer tape my feet. They are sold in pop up stalls in shopping centres or contact them by phone/online.

  • I cannot recommend Archie’s highly enough! From the first day I started wearing them my pain went away! I live in them now. I also got arch support insoles for all my shoes. I can’t walk in bare feet any more or the pain comes back. These thongs have been life changing for me. No more pain.

  • Going to professional would be better.

  • I have a friend who has this she was advised to go buy a pair of shoes “Sketchers” with enough space wide and length checked and with arch support. She lives in these shoes she said her plantar fasciitis is getting better and she is still able to walk comfortably everyday. She has since bought three pairs of the same shoe in different colours and wears them until bedtime. I think it is important not to wear ill fitting shoes and get the support our feet need. (I even bought a pair after all her good advice so I hopefully never get a plantar fasciitis or such.)

  • I would seriously urge you to make time to see a professional. It can make a huge difference and probably will help you solve the problem faster in the long run. If you can’t do that (or have to wait), I’d suggest going to medical sites rather than using social media. Try Westmead Hospital.

  • I have in the past. It is extremely painful and makes it incredibly hard to do this simplest of things. I found that slipping on supportive shoes and wearing them all through the house (I usually like to be bare foot in the house) worked a treat. After a week or so it went away. A GP visit is probably best though if it is continuing. Good luck with your results.

  • I saw some shoe inserts in a 777 pharmacy today. They might help

  • I would try getting orthotic shoes to see if it helps.

  • I developed this the second we built up – due to stairs!! And being overweight too, but the stairs did me in! Rolling a golf ball under the arch of my foot helps, wearing sneakers, probably should get some orthotics although I hate the feel of them.

  • I got this while I was pregnant with my last baby and honestly I couldn’t walk or do anything but really need to so I read that a can under the foot and rolling it back and forward can really help and guess what.. it actually does help a lot. I used that when it flared up everything.

  • Along with a personalised treatment plan from my general practitioner; going forward, I am very careful about choosing the correct socks and footwear for my feet. It really does make a difference for me to follow the treatment plan and to wear the right socks and footwear for my feet. Good luck with getting relief for your feet.

  • A GP fixed mine. She strapped it up with tape. In a few days, I went back and she taped it up again, the first lit was wearing off for a few more days and it was great.

  • I’d say start with a GP as their times would be more flexible but likely you’ll need to go to a specialist eventually

  • While it is a prevalent foot condition, it’s crucial to recognise that several other conditions can mimic its symptoms. These include heel spurs, tarsal tunnel syndrome, Achilles tendinitis, stress fractures, and bursitis.
Most people who have plantar fasciitis recover in several months with conservative treatment, such as icing the painful area, stretching, and modifying or staying away from activities that cause pain.

  • I had to seek treatment and strategies from my GP on dealing with this issue. It is always a very good idea to seek professional help and services for feet. We spend so much time on them and using them. It is some important to have a personalised treatment plan.

  • As a running mum with plantar fasciitis, a combination of rest, wearing runners (no bare feet) and stretching by pointing your toes (like a ballerina), 10 times morning and night daily.

  • I had a heel spur for a time (that’s the same thing?) and it was incredibly painful. I had no idea what was wrong and thought I had I had a hip issue! The doctor gave me some very basic exercise to do involving stretching against a wall. I was very sceptical but it worked in no time. I know others who had the same. Maybe google exercise for heel spurs. You’ll be surprised.

  • Search bjsm plantar fasciitis and it will take you to a systematic review for best management. Skip down to the best practice guide for recommendations. I had suspected I currently have this but my med husband doesn’t believe it matches but gave this article a squiz last night.
