Hello!

  • I dont see that it would be any different to going anywhere else. Just have fun as a family.

  • Oh wow 4 days in a cruise, I couldn’t imagine doing that with a toddler! I’d make sure to have as much of your toddlers stuff for sleeping

  • We got a portable little screen and downloaded kids movies on it for our kids and brought a jelly protector holder with handles so they could carry it around.

  • I don’t enjoy any long distance holiday when my kids were little. You will need lots of preplanning.

  • Probably too late to be a helpful answer but will try anyway. Kids club makes it alot easier, it’s a short cruise so illness shouldn’t be a problem but watch their hygiene anyway you do not want to be quarantined with a toddler.

  • We never considered a cruise when our kids were young – my husband was convinced they’d fall overboard!

  • I wouldn’t be taking young kids on a cruise unless they have a kids program

  • Pretty sure your cruise has most likely been cancelled now. After all this covid19 bizzo, I can’t see too many ppl wanting to go on cruises being how most of our cases originated on cruise ships

  • We went on a Royal Caribbean cruise (Voyager of the Seas) about a year ago, and it was hard work! Firstly, babies who weren’t toilet trained weren’t allowed in the pool due to hygiene reasons. This was particularly annoying! They were allowed in the jacuzzi spa though so atleast that was something. Secondly, kids under 4 (I think) weren’t allowed in the kids club and there weren’t babysitters on board so it meant we had no time out. If we wanted to sun bake or anything like that we had to take it in turns. There was a small “play” area in the old chapel which had a range of baby toys but it was pretty average (and you had to watch kids yourself- no minding service).
Another issue I found was that a lot of the shows were late at night, like starting at 9.30pm, so if you wanted to go you had to bring along toddler (we did to some which was great sometimes, other times a disaster!) or miss out.
Food wise it was great because there was a huge range of things to eat, we didn’t have any issues there.
If you are travelling with a toddler I would check out the services that particular cruise ship offers before travelling, it might be better to wait till they are a bit older and can enjoy the pool and kids club so you can get a good break too!

  • We recently went on our first cruise as well with a 2 1/2 year old. Also a 4 day cruise. Pack plenty of snacks!! We went with carnival and 2 year olds can access kids club. To use the pool or water park they do need to be toilet trained though. They don’t allow swimmer nappies. they will have fun and enjoy the entertainment onboard. Our boy is a great sleeper usually and the ship didn’t bother him sleeping. The railings were also high and very secure. Have a blast!

  • Some cruises have kids’ club which I understand is free. Most kids are happy to stay there the whole day. I think you may need to take them out at lunch time so the staff can have their lunch break and do other necessary tasks during that time. I suggest you check the google site of the Cruise Line you are using. Under a certain age you have to stay with your child but I don’t know what it is. If you booked the cruise on-line it will be easy to access any information you need.

  • Maybe you should have checked out suitability for kids on the cruise before you booked it. Most cruises that have families have activities for kids. If not, it’s only a four day cruise, a busy four days for you!

  • unfortunately you can only prepare to some degree and maybe take a few familiar things for her like a favorite blanket for sleep time. It will be hard to gauge how she will go until you are in the moment.

  • If she is toilet trained she can use pool and join whole day kids club.otherwise you need to entertain her

  • depends on what cruise line but they generally have a kids club. my advice is just go with the flow – bring some items that she loves and/or activities she enjoys like books/colouring/fave toys
