I have a set of wrist bands, not totally sure where I got them from, I think it was a chemist. They sit on the pressure points and reduce motion sickness. I suffer badly on planes, but don’t notice it with these bands on
Ginger is great but not necessarily a flavour that a 6 year old would like. Avoid heavy, in particular greasy, meals before travelling; a light snack might help. Ventilation might also help.
We make sure our daughter is looking up for at least the first half hour of the trip (as silly as it sounds) – no looking up/down reading, colouring in etc. Make sure their is enough ventilation too.
Make sure he’s looking out the window and not focusing on something in the car(book, phone, back of seat etc).
Sips of ginger beer or ginger cordial might help, and I think my mum also used to give me diluted cold juice to try and help too.
I’d love to know also. My son is nearly 6 and for the last few months he’s been the same. Its fine for short drives but anything longer than 20 minutes and he’s asking for a bucket. Poor kid. I find its the worst in my mums car too. I take ginger biscuits with us everywhere but they only help a little bit.
