Hello!

My little one is 2 and has developed bad nappy rash. I change is nappies frequently and been using sudocream but doesn’t seem to help. Doc confirmed that it’s nappy rash but was wondering if any others have better solution?

  • Maybe he just needs a bath or you need to change his nappy wipes or even nappy have you tried this yet

  • if your looking for another option why not try a natural oil such a coconut. ive tried it before and i find it helps with mild irritations and nappy rash

  • Nappy free time if you can and I found Lucas pawpaw ointment good.

  • A 2 year I know only recently had an allergic reaction to Sudocreme. She had one spot of nappy rash (often more appears overnight). Within seconds of applying it, an area came up bright red a couple of spots like it was going to blister. I was in the process of doing new nappy up. Couldn’t believe my eyes. Washed cream off immediately. All this time we had screaming toddler wh was so sore she fought us trying to put the nappy on. We took her to hospital in the town we were staying in and Dr. came in. We had to put steroid cream on it for a few days, then find another nappy cream that didn’t have the ingredient the Dr. suspected Missy reacted to.

  • I use Moo Goo nappy balm and find it works very well

  • I used so many good products but paw paw cream is my favourite by far

  • Alternate between sudo cream and antifungal cream (I know, sounds weird, but its has it listed on the tube) i found that helped my bub.
(Keep going for a couple days after it goes)

Let them free! Keep the nappy off.

Try using non-irritant/fragrance fre wipes, creams, soap etc.

If it continues, take them to a doctor, make sure its nothing more than nappy rash.

  • NAPPY FREE TIME- those parts need air! Keeping them moist/warm/covered all the time will lead to nasty rashes. However if you have a nasty nappy rash that just won’t go away no matter what, canesten for fungal nappy rash is the bomb diggity.

  • we swear by curash cream, our boy gets really bad nappy rash with teething

  • The active ingredient in sudocrem is zinc oxide. That is what helps with healing the nappy rash if sudocrem is not helping enough look for a nappy cream with a higher percentage of zinc oxide. they usually say right on the front.

  • When my kids were babies , the only thing that ever worked was Baby powder/talc. What I did was sprinkle onto their bottoms or inside of their nappies/pants ( stay away from any adhesives as they won’t stick if you come in contact with powder ) and after a day or two the rash subsided. Due to the sensitivity of babies skin , urine is very acidic and that was the main cause of the rashes. The powder keeps the skin dry and it always worked for the kids all the way through . It is also suitable for adults if needed .

  • If you can and its warm enough go without nappy to ,et the air get to it too.

  • I swear by bepanthen to heal and also pawpaw ointment. I use sudo as a barrier cream. coconut oil may also help heal. lots of nappy free time

  • Just keep him as dry as possible. Have as much nappy free time as possible. Hard in the winter months but skin needs to be away from the irritation of urine for as long as possible. Plain water is better for washing (no harsh chemicals).. maybe time to think about toilet training? You can perhaps try some junior training pants and let him start to feel when he has wet himself and introduce idea of potty/toilet.

  • Try using a wash cloth or water wipes until it clears up. The skin is best dried after cleaning. Either apply a little baby powder or corn flour to absorb any other moisture. Then apply a barrier cream to protect the skin and encourage healing. We found Bepanthen very effective, or paw paw cream.

  • I’ve always found Bepanthen the best. Woolworths has also a brand with paw paw as key ingredient and have a bodywash in the same brand (dark pinkish color), this is pretty good as well. Walking around in the bare bum should definitely help.

  • Use warm wet facecloths for cleaning, sudocream is great but can be drying. Alternative with fragrance free moisturers. Avoid acidic foods in child’s diet.

  • vasoline is waterproof, i used it with all of my kids, they never had nappy rash

  • Slather with Bepanthen and once all cleaned up, try and have as much ‘air’ time as possible-no nappy.

  • Try to go bare bum around the house as much as possible. Change to a different nappy brand. Change to a different soap in the bath. Might be the wipes you use. Try potty training?
