Hello!

I have recently experienced really bad sensative teeth. Not sure where it’s come from and have a dentist app booked in for next week but was wondering if anyone knows how to deal with the sensative now? Any advise is greatly appreciated.

  • I find brushing teeth with warm/hot water is not as harsh as cold. There are toothpastes for sensitive teeth which is meant to also help get rid of sensitivity – you would have to use morning and night for a while to get results. Hope you find something that helps. Good luck

  • Avoid cold and hot drinks, avoid sour foods like oranges & lemons. And use a special toothpaste for sensitive teeth, like Sensodyne for example.

  • My dentist told me the best thing to do is to floss every day. It worked. I was also told to use an electric toothbrush.

  • I have also very sensitive teeth. My dentist recommended to not eat anything very hot, or cold. I also used to squeeze some lemon juice in water, and drink it all day at my workplace, which destroyed my enamel. For me Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief works the best.

  • Avoid acidic food and drinks

Exposure to red wine, pop, fruit juices and acidic foods—such as oranges and pickles—can put your enamel under constant attack. Limit these foods and drinks, and try to brush about 20 minutes after eating them (not earlier, or the brushing may hurt your enamel further). Even if your teeth aren’t yet feeling sensitive, it’s a good idea to be cautious about consuming certain foods and drinks, as enamel loss is irreversible.

  • I have used Sensodyne toothpaste in the past and it works. My dentist applied some sort of coating to my sensitive teeth (near the gum), and now I don’t suffer from sensitive teeth anymore.

  • I have used Sensodyne toothpaste for a long time it really works. My dentist recommends I use it after normal toothpaste. Goodluck!

  • I purchase a toothpaste over the counter at the chemist, it also is a toothpaste that helps weak teeth, extreme cavatives etc . I have run out at the moment but can not think of its name it costs about 414 AND IS KEPT BEHIND THE COUNTER.. not on the shelf not all chemists stock it nut the bigger ones do.. It was recommended to me by my dentist.. Its expensive but it works..

  • The Virtual Medical centre is a great on-line Australian resource for health information. They jsut had an article about sensitive teeth
    http://www.myvmc.com/symptoms/tooth-sensitivity/?utm_source=myVMC+Newsletter&utm_campaign=f419dfdb9f-MyVMC_Newsletter_21_06_2016&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_9e73453903-f419dfdb9f-113726457
and it has two main causes – problem with nerve supply, or dentine exposure (more common in younger people less than 30 years)… they give some great tips for how to treat it (eg tooth paste, attention to how you brush) and lots of other information that might be useful to read before you see dentist to ask your questions.

  • Best to get a toothpaste that is good for your teeth – buy toothpaste for sensitive teeth that suits your budget.

  • Oh! My husband suffers of sensitive teeth and he uses a product that really helps him a lot. It’s called GC Tooth Mousse and you can get it at the pharmacy. Even if maybe not in all of them. http://www.breezecare.com.au/ausshop/recaldent-tooth-mousse.html It’s a little expensive but really worth the money. Check the prices in Internet before buying it.

  • Definitely get some toothpaste specifically formulated for sensitive teeth, be careful with both hot and cold drinks and food, and keep a warm scarf on hand for when out it bitterly cold winds. Good luck at the Dentist!

  • Have you tried sensodyne tooth paste/ i eems to protect my teeth, also till kicks in not to hot or not to cold food and drinks as they affect sensitive teeth. It works for me is all I can say, glad you are going to dentist to check too, he might give you sample tube to try that is where I first got mine ages ago

  • Having worked for years with a dentist Sensodyne was the best product at the time but as there is other toothpastes on the market now you may find they will work also.

  • Colgate sensitive pro relief.
Its the only product I know that works as good they claim on tv.
It was a blessing when I was waiting to get my wisdom tooth removed.
