Mini pies and sausage rolls are easy to make – not so easy to keep warm though, but still an idea.

For picnics I love doing mini pizza’s made from puff pastry or homemade dough. A salmon & cheese dip made in a cob loaf which is so delicious you keep going back for more.

You could cut some vegetables like carrots, celery, pepper.. and serve them with tzatziki, hummus or some other dip. Put the sauce in containers with lids so they are easier to use.

Special cheeses, beautiful rustic crackers, little roma tomato’s, mini cucumbers, raw mushrooms, olives, nuts, bread stuffed with spinach, ricotta and garlic, a nice bottle of cold withe wine.

Tarts or quiches are good because they can be made ahead and are just as tasty when cold or hot, and can be made with a variety of fillings. Scotch eggs, zucchini slice, cheese pasties, ham & cheese muffins, pork pie, sushi rolls, and lots of crusty bread and a variety of salads.

A selection of delicious cheeses,olives,crackers and cabana and sun-dried tomatoes is handy! Gourmet roast beef rolls and salad is always a winner!

Home made pizza tastes great whether hot or cold, is easy to make in advance, pack, and eat when you get to your picnic spot. You can also vary the toppings to suit the family’s tastes.
