Hello!

My twins are 1 year and I feed them weetbix, rice meals and pre made baby pouches store bought.
They don’t like eggs or fruit what can I give them for all 3 meals throughout the day.

  • Banana pancakes

    1 ripe banana
    1 egg
    2 Tbs of plain flower

Mash banana with fork add egg then flower
Cook on fri pan 2 mins each side or until cooked through

  • Pumpkin fries and carrot fries in air fryer

Cut pumpkin and carrots into strips (fries)
    Add a pinch of cinnamon
    Air fry for 8 mins!

  • I would keep trying with the fruit and eggs as kids change their minds a lot! Have they tried some pasta, or avocado with toast maybe? Our Daughter used to like cottage pie, and anything with mashed potato. Even some white fish might be worth a try, as long as it’s got no bones in, as it’s quite soft to eat and not too strong tasting

  • Toast is brilliant, it was my go-to at that age. Pikelets, milk arrowroot biscuits, yoghurt, cut up fruit are all good snacks

  • My son loves pasta, potatoes, pumpkin, I get the annabel Karmel meals from coles which I can’t be bothered cooking they are awsome

  • You have a great window there to keep offering the foods they are refusing. It can take hundreds of attempts for a child to try a food. Don’t force them to eat it, but through exposure they might come to want to try it.

  • Keep persevering with the foods they dont like. Its important to avoid food allergies and also makes your life easier if your kids like a variety of food

  • My 16 month old loves pasta, rice and soup!
I try and make different types of soups from minestrone to congee.
She loves all pasta, you can get rodent types for bubs at Coles and chemist warehouse.
She also likes fried rice so I whack a few different veggies in it.

  • You could start with a smoothie and slowly ween into a piece of fruit o offer new foods with foods they will already eat. It could take awhile but keep trying and eventually they might surprise you.
My 15 month old usually has:
Breakfast: toast (vegemite, jam, smashed avo), cereal (cheerios, wheet-bix), pancakes (rare occasion), eggs, fruit.
Lunch: sandwich (vegemite, smashed avo, cottage cheese), cucumber (not often a hit), corn, cheese, ham, chicken, fruit kebab.
Snack: yoghurt with fruit pieces, cheese, veggie muffin.
Dinner: whatever we eat or a bowl of veggies and sausages, pasta dishes, rice dishes.

  • Have you tried giving them yogurt at all? Maybe they might like the banana flavoured one as the flavour isn’t strong. You can buy it in little tubs. They should be chewing by now but may not be able to chew really hard food. Are you trying to give them raw or cooked fruit? The fruit in the pouches are very sweet and the savoury foods have too much salt in them. Check the ingredients and try cooking them similar then gradually vary the texture more. Did your babies have to have tubes down their throats at all? and have to have them changed a few times? I know one child that will only eat soft food as a result of that.

  • Just cook as normal, they will eat whatever- it’s all about experimenting for them. Lunches are the hardest for me- we make toastier with wraps, I make quiche regularly and hide veg, pancakes, or just grazing plates.

  • Persistence is key. One day they’ll like something and the next they won’t. Just keep offering

  • They’re still young and at this age it’s important to offer them a great variety of food to getting used to tastes. When you give them store bought pouches, make sure it contains veggies and protein source and less important carbs. You say they don’t like eggs but you can hide eggs in many things for example in pancakes, souffles, veggie muffins or fruit muffins or a scrambled egg in rice or an egg in soup is a good option too. Alternatively look to different protein sources than egg. Idem for fruit, you can offer in different ways

  • It’s all about hidden fruit and veggies. Buy some natural yoghurt and dip the fruit in the yoghurt. For veggies mix the veggies in with your pasta sauce

  • My son 16 months likes yoghurt, raisin toast, toast with honey, slice cheese & ham, scrambled eggs, cucumbers & tomatoes.
lots of meals we eat such as
Chicken casserole with red sauce & rice
    Zucchini bacon and haloumi spaghetti
    Lasagna
    Beef casserole with rice
    Crumbed pork snitzel
    Mushroom risotto
Homemade pizza he tried first time last weekend. Lastly to tonight he tried chicken Caesar salad with less dressing and loved it.
Hope any of these help you ????

  • Home made custard or jelly. Bolonage sause with extra vegetables

  • I would go for veggie muffins. Has never failed with my toddler!

  • After 1 yr my kids ate whatever I ate. I found particularly if it was on my plate they were interested in eating it. I would often cut it in to small pieces if it was meat or steamed veg I may cook a little bit longer so it was more soft than crunchy. My son ate anything on his plate, my daughter was picky but I put it on there anyway and she worked out how she likes to eat stuff. Like she hates corn and will pick it out of a casserole but if I make corn cobs she eats 2. Just put stuff in front of them and they will tell you if they are keen or not.

  • Mixed plate – toast, cheese, yoghurt, steamed veg, pasta

  • My 16 month old eats weet bix, yoghurt with puréed fruit or fresh berries in there, i make her fresh juices and smoothies. I do up a mixed plate with strawberries, banana, cheese, rice crackers, dip etc she loves spaghetti/pasta, Lasagne, meatballs,!sausages, if I cook a slow cooker she will eat that. She really just eats what we eat. She doesn’t like plain old steamed veg, she likes flavour on hers otherwise she won’t eat it and she likes spice. She loves English muffins, crumpets and toast.

You could always make mini pizzas out of the English muffins.

I always give her food I’ve made, never anything out of a packet.

She only has 3 teeth at the moment too.

And I’ve just started my 4 month old on farex and purée apples
