I didn’t make my kids do more than three hours a day (except the high schooler, that was different). They were getting plenty of work done in that time.

Homeschooling with 3 kids so stressful for me.It’s not easy to manage with household task.

Love not having the mad rush in the morning to get out of the house on time.
Our teachers gave a rough schedule and I try to stick to that. We are usually done by lunch time then we are free to play.
I have faith in the teachers and once they are back at school, they will get them up to speed in no time.

My daughter can not get her kids to do it. Its an argument every day!

School has a lot of ‘wasted time’ by discipline or getting kids to change seats or explaining activities to a class. It just takes longer at school. So if he smashes it out and has time to spare – what a great motivation!! Home school activities usually take quicker than school

We’re doing some work in the morning but not pushing the afternoon for the primary kids. The high schooler, we’re pretty much running a regulate school schedule.

Mine prefer to do it all quickly and have the rest of the day off. Sometimes it depends on the day too. Some days they want more breaks in between.

I would try both and see what works better for your son. Or get guidance from his teachers

We set up a bit like a school day, but only do school work for about half the day. We make sure we have movement break too, such as 5 minutes bouncing in the trampoline or scootering in the yard. It helps regulate my child’s emotions and helps her feel more settled, similar to us having a quick to get a cup of tea at work.

I think it depends if you are home schooling or remote learning. My Year 10 son is remote learning at the moment and although we roughly stick to the timetable, I think if he’s finished the work there is no point in pushing him to do something else.

My son did years 11 and 12 at home. I just used to let him go for it. If he finished items early, he had extra leisure time. He always got his work in before the due date so I didn’t heed to change this way of hone schooling

We set up like a schooldays as we are both working from home so lunch and recess at the same time. I start work early husband starts later so one of us finish when school finishes. If the lessons are finished early then she can have some free play time or read or something else. I think do whatever fits in with your lifestyle
