Hello!

My 20 week old daughter weighs 5.6kg and sitting on about the 8th percentile. She wasn’t overly small when she was born or and wasn’t premie. The only reason I ask is that looking back on my older sons weight, he was about 2kg heavier at this age. What does/did your bub weigh at 20 weeks? Thanks xx

  • I have a very chunky lady who weighed 7.46kg at her 4month needles.

If your concerned chat to your doctor/midwife. But generally 6 wet nappies a day is a good sign bub is getting enough milk, plus being happy, healthy, alert and meeting milestones.

  • Great answers as usual from moms and I agree if concerned speak to your dr or baby nurse.

  • From memory mine was about the same. She has reflux and is a poor weight gain baby but my dr has never been too concerned because she is well otherwise. Honestly, if bub is happy and drinking well and everything like that, I wouldnt be too concerned but check with your dr if you’re worried. For reference my girl is now 10 months and 7.7kg.

  • My kids were always way up in the percentile ranges, for weight and length. They were nearly 4kgs at birth, so I’m guessing they would have weighed more then your bub does at this age

  • My 4 month old weight 8.7kg, shes my 4th and was born the littlest but out of all 4 she is the biggest and tallest for her age compared to them. My smallest at this age was my 2nd and she weighed around 6.5kgs at around the same age. I think your bubba is at a good weight for her age.
Ps- we are a family of giants lol i am 5’11, my partner is 6’3 and our babies are quite tall (except miss number 3 who is ranging on average height and weight for a 2 year okd lucky thing, shes super easy to shop for) xx

  • Each child is different. As long as he /she is gaining weight,is happy and eating well (plus wet nappies) you shouldnt worried. Some children dont gain weight so quickly than others. If you concern talk to your gp or children nurse.

  • If you are concerned definitely see your health nurse and she will let you know if everything is ok. What percentile is she for her height to? I think that plays a factor in it too. I had big babies so they started off in the 50th percentile and then from 5 months were both off the chart for height and weight.
