Have a browse by Kmart and dollar stores, they often have little Rubik’s cubes, party masks, mini torches, mini staplers, stickers, bubble blowers etc

we put in pencils and rubbers, balloons and just a few lollies, Often a little thank you note is cute also

Little toys and puzzles would be good.

Go to the $2 shop. Just get cheap stuff, a pack of colour pencils, slinky, jigsaw puzzle $1 from kmart, glow sticks, a plain book for writing or even a ball each or something?

For my daughter’s 7th birthday we handed out these balloon helicopters. All kids loved them!! Maybe something for you?

Kids seem to love glow sticks. Other stuff we have included – stickers (you can buy little booklets of 20 pages of stickers for $2, just rip out each page and put one in each, or get a few for different designs), notebooks and pens, yoyos, bouncy balls, bubbles, erasers and other stationary stuff, whistles…… All the best!

Our party bags never include lollies I usually browse the dollar shops for things in bulk that relate to the party theme to put in the bags like erasers, notepads, temporary tattoos, pens, party favour toys etc

My son turned 6 this year and had his first party. In the party bags we put two lollies, some stationary items and fun stuff like party blowers and bubble blowers.

Those 4-color pens were a big hit when I put them in. Notebooks, matchbox cars, yo-yos.

Kiddos love stationary stuff. One year for DD when BigW had a huge sale on stationary items I picked up heaps of goodies for party bags for the following year – the bag included an assortment of pencils, sharpener, rubber, little note pad, ruler, set of highlighters (they were a massive bargain) then I added a whiz fizz and a chocolate bar. The party bag was just a brown paper bag that I decorated adding each child’s name with a scrapbook tag. The other mums loved the bags as much as the kiddos.

if you can find them- the gooey bubbles that you put the straw in and blow bubbles
those discs that you throw and they pop loudly

I’m not quite sure about this but you may be able to get some vouchers to 10 pin bowling or other activities. At the party they maybe able to make something that may go in their party bag.
Packs of cards maybe another idea.

Kmart have a great pack of cars (similar to Hot Wheels), use 1 per pack, Flavoured sippa Straws, tattoos, go to local cheap stores and make them up in melamine cups wrapped in cellophane for them to keep. Little snack packets of chips or biscuits are popular also, bulk packets of fruit (mandarins). Good luck and have fun. Get your son to help you pack them it will make him feel important. Kmart also have great jigsaws for $2 that are nice to give.

I recently had to make 30 party bags for my son’s 5th birthday and I was asking the same thing. I ended up finding a great deal on books on ‘catch of the day.’ It was a pack of 10 Julia Donaldson books for $14.95. The pack included books like The Gruffalo and The Troll. It was a bargain so I bought three sets. I put a book and a handful of assorted chocolates into brown paper craft bags, plus the party bag they got from McDonalds (it was a Maccas party). It was a hit with both the parents and the kids.

Stickers and temp tattoos as others have said are always fun. I’d go to a $2 shop for inspiration. Just check things are safe before including in the bags.

Temporary tattoos, whoopie cushion, glow sticks, slime/goop in a tub, plastic animals, yo-yo, erasers, stickers, pencil, little cars or motorbikes.

I would go with a party theme. We have done a pirate party and made a treasure bag with treasure goodies and the only sweet treat was some chocolate coins. We have also done an animal party with small toy animals and animal stickers and a couple of lolly snakes. We have always done themed parties(helps with the cake and food too). Once you choose a theme it is much easier to find goodies for a bag and avoid filling it with sweet treats! Hope this is useful!

Go to a $2 shop. Maybe get water bottles and fill it with little things like bubbles, marbles,
stickers, puzzles etc. I don’t have boys that age but I’m sure they’d be happy with anything car related!
