Hello!

My daughter has asked me to be at the birth of her first child. I am super excited and feel somewhat honoured to be able to support her and her partner at that incredible time. I’m just wondering, what do I need to take with me – for me – to the hospital? I feel like I should not necessarily have a ‘hospital bag’ packed, but at least a lunchbox :)

  • Take plenty of snacks because you don’t know how long the labour will be. Take a phone charger and a book or something to do.

  • I’d bring with me snacks and drinks, my phone and charger, a change of clothes, some cash, and A BOOK :)

  • Is it a public or private hospital? When I had bubs in a private hospital the hospital had him covered for food etc they were great. He was eating cake while I was having contractions lol ( that was some time ago though) but in the public he had to have all his own food. I’d definitely take water though and possibly a book or puzzle mag etc you may be waiting a while.

  • Loads of snacks and popper drinks or gatorade.
Small change for the vending machines.
    A book

  • i would suggest the breastfeeding pillow if you are going to breast feeding.

  • I agree with Ordinary mum that you can get lost in a book and that a needle work is a great item to bring. I would bring creditcard, phone (camera), charging cord & plug, jumper and blanket too.

  • Snacks, sugary drinks, a portable speaker and charger, spare clothes and some bathers/something to wear that can get wet. I spent nearly the entire 9 hours of labour in either the shower or bath (with gas, yay!) And had my husband right by me. These were the only things I ended up using that we packed. 90% of it stayed in the bag.

  • Food, water, cushion, blanket and knitting/crochet if you do it. I probably wouldn’t read a book if you are in the room with her the whole time. It can be a bit excluding.

  • Snacks, drinks, heatpack, cushion and a throw!

  • Water, snacks, a phone charger, a rug, socks and a jumper. It can be a long wait and hospitals can get very cold.

  • A water bottle, some snacks, and a charged phone or camera!

  • Book, food, chargers, jumper

  • Definitely food, we took a pack of cards for early on, charge and camera for photos and videos!

  • Definitely snacks and drinks. Mobile phone charger. Some kind of music. Stuff to do to keep you busy as labour takes a while

  • A change of clothes in case it is overnight, medicines, food.

  • Take whatever you would take if you went on a outing with your friends. Dress comfortably, think smartly – what do I need to keep me occupied and satisfy cravings – what snacks/food/drinks do I need.
Also keep in your car a overnight bag just in case.

  • Healthy snacks, phone charger, water, money, a cushion (you may be sitting for hours). Comfy shoes and clothes.

  • Yes I would bring food, drink, money, a book in case the wait is long, your phone & chaching cord & plug, hairbrush, tooth brush, wear comfortable clothing – layers in case in gets hot/cold

  • Snacks! Money/Eftpos card for drinks and parking.

  • Definitely snacks, maybe a good book or a tablet. Also, maybe some music you both like or something you can read aloud.
